So I'm in the process of putting in a new audio system in my new (20 year old) car. Before I disconnected the factory radio, I remember it working, but am not sure about the antenna and know that the dome lights didn't work. When I tried putting the new one in, it wouldn't power on, and now neither does the old one. I'm not sure on the antenna but I don't remember ever seeing it go up.
There's a switch in my fuse box that says something along the lines of "extended storage sw" and if I flip that the dome lights will turn on, radio powers up, and some other lights and a chime go off. If I take the keys out with this switch "on" the lights and chime stay on.
Does anyone know what the hell is going on? I just want to get my damn radio working and now this lol.

PS, I looked at the fuses, they aren't burnt out or anything. And my car is an '88 Nissan Stanza btw.

Sounds like the dome is messing with your (head). *snicker*

I'd get a circuit tester and start testing backwards - like is there power getting to the unit? If there is, then it's the unit, if there isn't, then it's something further on... keep going like that until you find the dodgy earth or whatever it is that's stopping things from working.

Sounds like your dome lights, audio and power antenna aren't working.

Go get some wiring diagrams and see what circuits are tied into what. If they aren't connected in any way, then just solve one problem at a time. If they are connected, look for the common denominator, something that could cause no power to anything. Also test at the component to make sure they all have good power and ground.
