I am going to purchase a new car very soon I have a budget of about $14,000.00 . I am a street racer and I'm looking for opinions on what car would be a good choice to buy. I would like to have a car that is preferably a coupe that is fast but also has some options for style upgrades. Manuel or Automatic is fine. I was thinking of a 03' Mercedes c230 kompressor. I'm open to any suggestions.

p.s. Iv herd all of the lectures of it being illegal :rolleyes: and it wont change my mind so don't waste your time. I have used totse for many years and I expect to hear some helpful suggestions not bitching about how childish and irresponsible I am. :)

You should get a 1994 Honda Civic. Body kits are cheap as hell for it, and so are spoilers on the trunk so you can have extra downforce.

If you get a fart can for it, it'll make like 367 horsepower.

And then get a belt-driven turbo. That'll give it like 450, and it'll be the meanest machine on the streets.

Oh, and don't forget the rims and nos. If you do all these, you'll still have like 7,000 left and you can make it back wining races in your sic ride dog.

if you're looking for the latter (and you're in america) get yourself a camero or firebird for ~7000. put the remaining 7000 in engine trans and traction and you will smoke any kiddie you run accross

If you want power a 300ZX, Supra or 3000GT/GTO will be under that price range, and will rape away your fancy merc.

The Z comes as a 2+0 or a 2+2. (I assume you could even get the 350z for under 14k US?)
You still got the RX-7s, Supras, 3000GT/GTOs, or whatever else you want. I'm sure there are many many many american coupes around that will be much cheaper and quicker than the merc.

Except its the other way around.

First, C230s are slow. Srsly.

Second, 300ZX's are pretty quick if they're the TT version, but unholy hell to work on. Which means, since you don't seem like you'll be doing any work yourself, they're expensive as shit to work on.

Third, if you want to go fast in a straight line (without having to think for yourself, because you probably aren't smart enough to do that,) start with a Fox Mustang or LS1 Camaro. Then get a Jegs catalog and throw money at the car until it's fast.

And finally, you're not a street racer if you can't answer this question for yourself. And if you think a C230 is a good start to a drag car.
