Whats up, I have this pair of earphones and one side's cable has crapped out. Can I repair this somehow? I'm thinking of replacing the shitty side with a cable torn from shitty ipod buds. Can I splice these with a soldering iron or something?

you can.
but personally, fixing hair-like enamel covered earphone wires via soldering is a bitch.
You have to scrape the enamel off before soldering.
Maybe a solvent is out there, but I never tried that.
Once you solder them, they become stiffer and prone to breaking if flexed.

Try it, but prepare to be frustrated.

Simply heat the wire using the iron with a blob of solder on the tip. The enamel will burn off, allowing you to solder witn no trouble.

Of course, the hard part is finding the break. Usually the ends break first, or it might be easier to replace the whole cable.
