Do any of you guys listen to the Security Now podcast at www.twit.tv? I'm just starting to become interested in network security and I like the way Steve Gibson explains ideas.

What media you burning the ISO to? And how old is the drive you wish to boot the media from?
How do you know if you burnt the ISO correctly?
I've used backtrack quite allot. It's pretty simple to boot up a live CD. Your problem exists either because you didn't burn the iso correctly, the download was corrupt, or you have not correctly set your boot options.
To check that the download wasn't corrupt, try running it in a virtual machine. Just download windows virtual PC, it's free and available through the microsoft site.
If it works in there, then try re-burning the disk. Remember, you can't just burn it as a regular data disk. You need to burn it as a 'bootable' disk. To do this in nero, all you need to do is select that option. Not familiar with other burning software.
Then, go into your BIOS and make sure that the disk drive is set to primary in the boot order.
If you post the error message you are getting, then I'll be able to help you some more.

I've been using linux since BiOPSY introduced me to Fedora Core 3 and followed the same procedure to burn a distro since. I used k3b to burn the cd image and it said the checksum matched and I verified it after burning. I booted from my cd drive and all I got was a pause and then my regular Grub menu ( I dual boot Ubuntu and Vista). The cd also shows up as Back Track Linux under Ubuntu and Vista. It must have been a corrupted download somehow.

Check your bios for boot priority, and make sure you have the the drive set for cable select. :)
