May be similar to why people have fears that they can't explain where it came from?

Maybe. I've heard that some phobias are from things from past lives. It's possible. I would explore it further and see what you come up with. Might just be simple social anxiety/whatever or you might discover something else.

Yes, the idea that we are a "fragmented soul" and that life as we know it is the journey back to One.

Your mind has been conditioned to think this way. Also, there is heaps of evidence, it's just being withheld from you. The powers that be don't want you to believe in things like that, and you're making it easy for them.
