So here is the story. My computer wouldn't start up so I took it to best buy to have them figure out what is wrong with it. Turns out that the motherboard AND video card is screwed up and here is the funny part:best buy wants 969 dollars to fix it. Like I am paying that shit. This is where you guys come in. I have built my own desktop computer before, but never have I screwed around with laptops. Is there any good resource you can recommend like a website detailing how to fix your laptop computer's hard ware? And any other general advice would be very much appreciated.

As much as i love doing DIY stuff unless you have resources and some knowledge about Laptops i don't think you should consider fixing it yourself. For starters unlike Desktop PC's laptops internal components aren't available in market.
The Best buy are asking for extra money only because they will replace the parts from there stock laptops or parts taken from the OEM.

It would be best for your laptop safety that you let the experts handle this, but get as much detail from them as possible. Maybe they are just fucking with you. If its software related problem then it could be fixed but i am not too sure about the hardware one.

Good Luck.
