I think this is about the closest to the correct forum on TOTSE in which to ask this question.

Regardless my Firefox recently did the automatic update thing to version 3, I believe it is. Now whenever I go to type something in the address bar, a huge drop-down list of my favorite bookmarks show up; how can I turn this off? It's driving me nuts!

Thanks and please move if this question fits better elsewhere.

I suggest you get the "oldbar" extension and the "hide unvisited" extension. Unfortunately, this won't turn it off completely, but it'll make it look more like the Firefox 2 location bar.

It can be turned off completely, using the about:config page (there are details on the Firefox 3 help forum), but that turns the input-completion system off completely. The SuckyBar (incorrectly called the AwesomeBar by Firefox 3 developers) appears to be the only way that the URL bar will work in version 3. The oldbar extension causes it to draw the results like version 2 did. Hide Unvisited prevents sites you haven't visited recently from showing in the drop-down.

Thanks for the help.

After perusing around a bit on Mozilla's website I found an add-on for FF that will only allow the address bar to show bookmarked sites if I've visited them during the current session.

Problem solved! :)
