Do they have a patch or what? I have been searching for the last few hours and can only find discussions on the subject. If someone can link me to a patch that would be a big help. Its driving me crazy, I can't find anything helpful and heard its a great game.

You want a Shader Model 2.0 patch for Mass Effect? What card are you planning on using to run the game that only has Shader Model 2.0? Because Mass Effect is fairly graphically depending, and I doubt your SM2 card is going to be able to run it.

I have an x800GTO which, overclocked, is by far good enough to play ME. I have been playing Fallout 3 on high all day. And I was able to play Bioshock just fine.
I was just wondering if anyone made a patch...

Even if you were to double both the core and mem clocks, that thing still wouldn't be "far good enough" to play Mass Effect. If it were SM3, I'm sure it would run it okay, but the performance wouldn't be anything to write home about.
Really, you probably shouldn't buy (read: download) games your card can't play because it's too old.

Well I have a 9500 in the mail and I'm using my old card in my new comp untill it comes in and I don't feel like waiting to play my game.
you did you get so snappy/defensive? Calm down you grouch dickhead.
....and I have a hard time believing my computer cannot play ME, while I can play equally demanding games.
Congratulations you have turned my thread into an argument that it TOTALLY unrelated, thank you for your input, but it is of no use in this particular thread.

There's a reason you haven't been able to find a SM2 patch: because it doesn't exist.

Well now that we are on the subject...
is this a bad choice, I was limited to a low pro card that doesn't need a second power connector.
What would you suggest?

A second connector? You mean, that doesn't need a plug from the PSU put into it? Why can't you have any power going into it?
A 9500 isn't that great, but if you need a card that only draws power from the PCI-Express slot and is low profile, I don't really know what's available because I haven't had any need to research such a card. Why is this the case for you?

I have a Dell 530s and it has, for some reason, no extra power plugs from the power supply.

And there's no devices you can unplug? Damn, that really sucks.

yeah, but I got the computer for just over $500 its a refurb, but its got a dual core 3.0 with 4gb of RAM, and 500gb of hard drive space, so I guess I have to give a little bit.

Really not that great a deal to be honest, but as long as you're happy.

Really?
Everywhere else I priced a computer like this it was more like $800-$1,000

Well, if it came with a good monitor and all the other accessories it's probably a decent deal.
What monitor did it come with?
