LittleBigPlanet is a really great game to play with anyone. but me and my girlfriend have a blast with it, especially. assuming you have atleast two Dualshock 3's, definatly give it a shot (and the more, the better.).

the worse thing you can play with a girlfriend is a fighter. trust me, I know. I've handed it to my girlfriend so many times in Guilty Gear XX #Reload, and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike (girlfriends make for great instant kill and parry practice). I'm way too instinctive when it comes to fighters. I can't 'take it easy'. on the other hand, she beats me 50% of the time in Virtua Fighter 5. though I've just never been much for 3D fighters.

Also, whoever said that thing about fighters, girls rule at them. Their button mashing always breaks my combos and kicks my ass. In shit like Tekken, I can beat a lot of experienced players, but when a female button masher grabs the controller, I'm most likely going to lose. :o

Exactly this, LittleBigPlannet is perfect material.

Though most of my other games require:

1) Dual thumbstick controls (controls which, in my experience, girls will never be able to use.)
2) Guns
3) Online multiplayer. Damn I hate that, why can't they just make games with local multiplayer too! You know, we do actually have real friends that come to our houses.

Three out of the nine PS3 games I own have a local multiplayer, two of which require 1 and 2.

As for fighters, they're always fun, we all had a blast on Mortal Combat vs. DC Universe. Even the girls! They're lethal on fighters:

Online exclusive multiplayer sucks, and it's fucking shite that more and more games are coming out as not only exclusive to online in the multiplayer department (local has been pretty much killed off now in the gaming scene), but also seemingly exclusive to online in the content department.
"Oh, but there's hours and hours of online multiplayer fun to be had!" just doesn't cut it with me. That's no excuse for neglecting their obligation to provide some actual fucking offline content, and it's sure as shit no replacement for local multiplayer.

I recently challenged my girlfriend to a game of mario kart double dash on the gamecube and she fucking whooped me, i pwn her on rock band and guitar hero though.

Girls heart Singstar and thats a fact but it depends how well you know her/how terrible you are at singing as to whether you risk playing it with her!

Old school games, if you find one that she played as a kid that is a perfect one. I find girls like super mario world. I wouldn't make sweeping generalizations about girls though, just ask her what she would like to play. If she is new to gaming, any pickup and play game will work- Wii sports, rock band, guitar hero, and the like.

This. It really pisses me off, and is one of the reasons I do not own a current gen console. I only own a PC, because I can't really do local multiplayer on that anyway. However, since me and my brother both own decent PC's, we can play LAN games together like C&C 3, Halo: Combat Evolved, Descent 3, Unreal Tournament 99, and various Steam games such as Garry's Mod and Counter Strike.

Next time my girlfriend comes over I need to show her Garry's Mod and Portal. Heh. It's pretty funny, I got her semi-addicted to San Andreas once, but she eventually got frustrated.
