I was reading that dextromethorphan polistirex is time release, and that the time release is broken by the acids in the stomach. Would simply adding a little vinegar defeat the plastic time release? And how long would it possible take? I am sorry if I have broken any rules.

I'm not entirely sure, but if there was a plastic coating that is broken down in the stomach, which then releases the DXM, you could bypass this by simply grinding it into a powder, just use a clean mortar and pestle or two spoons. Then you can either dissolve in water, recap into a gelcap, parachute etc etc.

Yeh just crush it. Otherwise, if it's like those little gelatin caps, just uncap it and pour it out.

Wouldn't that kind of be overkill, especially if he just wants to get high? Why not just add the HCl, filter, then evap? The HCl should evap cleanly, and he would be ingesting the binders anyway.

Ok please dont flame me for this but I dont understand hcl? Would soaking the pure dxm in a little bit of vinegar eat away the plastic matrix surrounding the dxm to stop the time release? Also I have already separated the dxm from the syrup, its sitting on a plate in my room, about 500 mg's of brownish powder.

If you don't know your chemistry, I would try the crushing method.

Well I dont think you can crush something that is already in a powder form, its not a capsule or something like that that a few of you have told me to just crush. Its in a powder form now. I was just wanting to know because I do not want lingering effects for 24 hours because of the form its in.

The way time-release pills work are by dissolving, with layers of active product being released every x minutes. So if it is already in powder form, it can't have time-release effects, AFAIK.

Obviously you dont know what im talking about here, it is a powder and it is time release.

Polistirex is an edible plastic surrounding the dextromethorphan molecule, allowing for timed release as the stomach acids break down the plastic. As a cough suppressant, the polistirex version lasts up to 12 hours, so this duration may also hold true when used recreationally

So as you see I am talking about dextromethorphan polistirex which is in delsym cough syrup. Which I have extracted and is now a powder.

Is there some special reason you extracted DXM polistirex? You could have extracted as a freebase, made DXM citrate, or even DXM HCl, but you chose to extract the polistirex form? I've never seen any guide explaining how to do this, and I'm wondering if it's even feasible. I'm sure there's a way to extract anything under the sun given the right chemicals and equipment, but is there a reasonably OTC route to what the OP is talking about? OP, please share with us how and why you extracted DXM polistirex from Delsym.
