found here on this badass blog that i wrote.

http://www.spurious-plank.blogspot.com/

or,

read it here :

just finished watching the breakfast club, damn, It wasted me!! This cult classic was my highschool experience in a nutshell, but it raises a few questions that would make for some good blogging, such as...

What the fuck is society doing to us?

As an individual, a human, and an optimist i would hope that there is always a place for guys like me (individuals who arent afraid to be themselves!), but by and large the proles just dont seem to give a damn, and general consensus of the masses eats away at the soul. It's the price we pay for acceptance, conformity, that is. Whats so important about recieving acceptance anyways? deep down in our bones, we need human attention and acceptance so much more than anything, but it seems like the american societal machine that was founded on such high ideals is dissolving at the highschool level, and maybe at the family level as well... As young adults start to let loose and find out who they are, stereotypes ands prejudices come into play, marring the beauty of that first step into society! By and large, the result is and endlesss stream of desperately unhappy and fractured individuals pouring forth from the highschool gates with a shiny new diploma and a blank stare in their eyes. Of course, this isn't true all of the time, but this IS happening, and it scares the shit out of me!

To put it shorty, the american social and academic boot camp known as highscool is terrifying, and its destroying the humanity of our youth. Even to this day im confronted with products of the social machine known as high school, a veritable slew of individuals hiding who they are behind the mask of conformity, acceptance, and safety.

Wouldn't it be healthier and better if we could all just be ourselves, without constantly looking over our shoulders and praying for acceptance?

I know for myself that life is hard, and things will never be as ideal or pristine as I hope. BUT...Why don't we all give eachother a break, and practice a little acceptance? Try it out on the next clone that you meet walking the street, and try to dig out that fractured but desperate individual that lies within all of us. I promise it will make you feel pretty damn good ;)

P.S.

My first blog! Comments and criticisms alike are welcome

Give more examples of this uniformity hs produces. Also, offer possible solutions. Ask some thought provoking questions.

like a group of girls all wearing shit ugly, over priced boots just because they're popular. (http://bp2.blogger.com/_QatMJHEcU9A/R6k3N_6UsdI/AAAAAAAABXI/04WBKp_maiQ/s1600-h/Sorority.jpg)

or a bunch of guido faggots. (http://flyboyz.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/guido-losers.jpg)

And that just covers appearance.

If you keep turning out decent material, I'll read your blog. Also, try some current events. Society outdoes its former self everyday.

Keeping your brain empty all through grade school helped prepare you for high school. Could you Imagine most high school teachers trying to cope with 14 year olds that could actually think. LOL

Now the kids coming out of high school have a screwed up economy to face. Try having kids and raising them under those conditions.

As a high school student, I can assure you that this picture you're painting of a terrifying, conformist bootcamp is completely exaggerated. The classes are bullshit, critical thinking isn't taught, and a lot of the kids are mindless consumers, but there are thinkers in the school, and those truly incapable of thinking for themselves are the minority. Most of us aren't "hiding" here.

Society makes YOU in the first place and, to a lesser extent, still does. So the real question is Why is society rejecting its own product, and what are YOU doing to society?

I think that is why he pissed about school, that there is the minority of non-thinkers and sheeple or whatever. The problem with high school is that it's bullshit and we have to work through it, decide on a career in our teens, then maybe, if we're lucky find a college and scholarship to paddle our way in to wage slavery. Or take out a government loan and work ourselves to death paying it off. Think for yourself, question everything etc etc.

The system sucks, I won't argue that, but this was the paragraph he wrote that I had in mind:

"destroying the humanity of our youth" and "individuals hiding who they are behind the mask of conformity, acceptance, and safety." are statements which, at least where I live, don't apply to high school. Nearly everyone I meet has a distinctive and individualistic personality, whether their thoughts are more bound by society than that minority of thinkers or not. We're still human, over here.

And, like I said, very few people I've met in high school are "hiding" or following a social trend so they can be cool. Those who do let fashion dictate their behavior or just as much of a minority as free thinkers are.

Did it ever occur to any of you that you might just be looking at this all wrong. Society is run by individuals, but they are a minority. We need a world of followers, and leaders, with more leaders than followers. High school is there to do one thing; Separate the strong willed, from the weak. If you have noticed that most people are weak, than you are likely the strong. Congratulations, the world is your oyster. You have the ability to see that most people are lead around by others, just like you. Quit bitching, and see that you are in a situation to capitalize on this knowledge. Look at how many people act cool by imitating actors. Those actors were the individuals that were part of your drama club. They might not have been cool, but look at them now. Those individual math and science geeks, they're now your accountants, scientists, and mathematicians. That opinionated outspoken history or social studies individual, is now a politician. All great people start out as individuals, and are usually rejected in high school. All these people grow up to be the leaders in their fields, acquire more wealth in life, a better looking partner, etc.

The problem you guys are facing is that you're seeing high school as your defining moment, when your defining moment arrives when high school ends. You know what I call those conforming idiots these days? My dad's employees, which will one day be my employees. As a person with a strong will, you have natural power. This can be pissed away, or you can cease the day. Cause once out of high school, life happens. When all those idiots realize they don't have a clue, what do they do? They do the thing they've always done. They cling or follow a stronger willed person, becoming and extension of that person's will. Just like the congregation becomes and extension of a Church's beliefs, others can become an extension of your goals and beliefs. Apply that wherever you like. In business, the man in charge, is the guy with the balls to take his individual idea, and create a plan. He then organizes the people who aren't capable of doing the same under him. He organizes work for them, and they make him money. His will was to make himself money. His employees become an extension of his will, because they are making money for him too. Sure they get a reward, but they are stuck working to make someone else money.

I hope you understand what I'm saying, and use your individualistic power to conquer the weaker wills around you to your own benefit. It's not wrong to think this way either, because in turn, they make money too, benefiting themselves. Without you though, they'd have nothing. Followers need a leader, and a leader benefits from his followers, by benefiting his followers.

If you listen to me, you'll end up in a situation where you won't be a wage slave. You'll live better than those around you, and be much happier in life. The money won't make you happy, but not being under someone else will. In capitalism, the strongest willed individual becomes a king, and there is no shame in that success, despite the contempt of the weak.

I practice what I preach too. I don't take shit from anyone, and I don't even pay taxes, cause those are for idiots to pay. In fact, the higher taxes go, the more I end up with, lol.

This dude speaks the truth. How do you get away with not paying taxes?

First off I would just like to say, I totally understand what you're trying to say and I can sympathize. Unfortunately for myself... I didn't gain this understanding until I was out of high school. It really is a shame that so many of us conform to certain peoples' expectations simply because we want to be accepted and not denounced. Don't get me wrong, I know first hand the terrible feeling of being criticized and attacked simply for being myself. However, one thing important to acknowledge is that people's conception of you is just - an - oppinion, it doesn't matter.

Why don't we all give eachother a break, and practice a little acceptance?

IMO... the reason why COUNTLESS people cannot accept others is because they are extremely one-dimensional; they have their own idea on how the world should work and how our lives should be lived. If one does not agree with another's method, idea, etc., they immediately make assumptions and judgements without even considering the other person's perspective. Everyone has their own way of living, and although you may not agree with it, it doesn't mean you should declare it wrong. The best philosphy in life is usually your own because it fulfills your desires, expectations, needs, and demands. In this sense you basically decide what's best for you. Of course we can get into the truely disturbing, obscene, destructive people out there and their ways of life, but I don't wanna get into that. :P

The programming doesn't start in high school. A lot of it is done by the time you get to high school.

Grade school is almost like a form of intellectual deprivation to keep too many ideas from getting in that might cause a kid to think outside the box. That is why I suggest science fiction for kids. I am starting to think I should only suggest stuff from before Star Wars. LOL SF has gotten dumbed down since then.
