so i was reading this thing about how eventually we are going to have t.v.'s that project 3d hologram things.

i was wondering, how can they make a camera that captures a 3 demensional figure?

like i was thinking it would be pretty cool to have a foot ball stadium on my table, but how?

the technology is sort of available, you just need a bunch of cameras focused on the same spot

see: The Matrix

actually speaking of football, i think here in australia they once tried to do something like that to help referees make decisions, though im not sure what happened to that

yeah, but it would take a dickload of cameras to capture EVERY angle, but i get what your saying. i was just thinking, they might be able to emit some sort of wave (like a sound wave) and "decode" it w/ some type of computer to tell the tv what to show, like echo location. idk how they would capture color though.

wouldnt it be weird if we started doing this but didnt have the technology to see the colors and so we would revert back to black and white? im pretty sure we have the technology though.

one way to do it could be use a device similar to those machines (i dont know the name of them) that scan the dimensions of a model on the x,y and z axis (usually cut from foam) and places them on a computer. if we could do this real time, and have the recievers pick up reflected light, we might be able to do this

To do an entire football pitch 50 times a second would probably require a fuck-ton of processing though. To lighten the load tags could be put on anything that moves or something so that the camera would only take in an area around that particular tag.

Though that might just be a waste of time and i'm sure in the future computers won't even flinch at the idea.

'They' (in the 60's) also said that there would be flying cars by the year 2000...
