Introduction:

This is the first in a series of challenges I'll be writing up. They are very easy, in the sense that they are using really old methods of encryption. Nothing new and complex, just old school fun.

If you've never done anything like this before, then reading Wikipedia for a while will definitely yield the answer. I will make sure of that.

This is sort of the experimentation thread, test the waters, get some opinions. I would like to know how everyone would like to submit their answers.

Obviously you cannot under any circumstances post the answer in plaintext. This will ruin it for everyone. So we have two choices.
1. Post the answer in ROT13.
2. Email me your answers.

Originally I wanted to include a scoring system, points for speed, accuracy, difficulty of challenge etc. Get a scoreboard going on. However if everyone posts in ROT13, this wont work. So let me know what you want.

Challenge:

This is a nice easy one.

Each symbol is a letter, so only a small sentence. No punctuation, except spaces.

Thanks for that, I emailed you the answer so as not to spoil it for others.

No problem, if a few more people enjoy these, then it will be a continuous thing. Did you use the hint, did you have to do any research, should the next one be allot harder?

I did use the hint, and found the cipher in the first thing I looked up. I'd say the whole thing took me 10-15 minutes, so make the next one harder :)

Nah, ROT13 is only relevant to those who wish to post the answers instead of emailing me. I did mention that it's old school, wanted to start off with a really simple one that's still a little bit of fun. Might make use of polyalphabets in a challenge just pour vous.

Warweed, did you ever check out the Steganography thread I made in your forum?

MaddMan:
The challenges will get consistently harder, I'll make the next one once a few more people have tried this one.

Dang, forgot how much I enjoyed cryptography...cool puzzle! I'm proud, I solved it in under two minutes just by reasoning out the symbols in my head. :)
