what are the pros and cons of 64 bit vista?

I have heard from many people that it is better, but not knowing much about computers, I was wondering if it really is better, and if I would even be able to take advantage of any benefits because of my limited knowledge?

by the way, I would be using the computer for gaming, if it makes a difference.

It allows you to have 4gig of ram.

Thats the only thing you will notice.

But 64bit makes my computer stable, 32bit is really unstable on my laptop.

Just to expand the question a little, because i am thinking about upgrading to 4gig ram and would thus install 64bit vista...

Is everything supported on 64bit vista these days?

Not *everything* is supported, and never has been supported. A lot is, though.

4 Gig is supported on a 32 bit platform, just because it shows '3 gig' on the system panel doesn't mean it doesn't use 4 gig. The other gig is used aswell. If you go above 4 gig you have to upgrade to a x64 platform.
