I'm sure a fair number of us have encountered the red ring of death issue (Personally, I'm on my third 360) So I imagine this issue will be relevant for any current xbox owners who haven't managed to avoid technical problems with their 360.
Now, the one I have now has been okay for around a year (the new standing record for me) BUT, since the xbox did come out 2005 and I ended up picking mine up the day before christmas, 2005 I started to get a little anxious about when that warranty was set to expire. Lo and fucking behold, according to Microsoft's service website, my warranty expired in april of 2008....
Is this even mathematically possible since they extended the American warranty to 3 years? My console hasn't ever broken anytime NEAR april and even if that 3 years were to expire it should be ending just now, not 7-8months ago. According to Micrsoft's "dispute the warranty date" section, I cannot dispute the warranty OR reactivate it unless I have a pending repair. I guess my next plan of action will be calling customer support, I don't know how far that'll get me.
Anyway, moral of the story, start checking those warranties ESPECIALLY if you've had a red-ring failure as it seems the legacy of bullshit microsoft started back in 2005 still hasn't come to an end.
