Well depends on where you live. If you know a FFL gun dealer in your area you can have all weapons purchased online sent to him and you just pick it up after a transfer fee.
I would recommend http://www.impactguns.com in that case.

I only buy from private parties, but I have to agree. He has posted so much false information it's sickening. That's Why I've been more active today in W&C than usual.
Anyways OP, Any ideas on what you want to start with?
If you are new to shooting, I'd start with a .22 long rifle. Ammunition is cheap and you can practice in your backyard*
*within reason

*within reasoni agree a .22lr would be a good start. Especially with ammo prices right now. you can still get a bulk pack of (what is it?550?)22lrs for $10-$15. i have amarlin model 60 that my dad gave me it is a great gun. It is about 15-20 years old and it is still running strong. It doesn't like certain cheap .22s though. The ruger 10/22 is also a fine gun.
in my area it would be a bad idea to shoot in my back yard. I practice archery in my backyardbut a .22 would be a nono. i live in the suburbs so thats why. Op if you are in a rural area you could practice in your back yard. also you could get subsonic ammo to make it less dangerous. Just make sure you build up a nice size back drop to absorb the .22 bullets. This could be made with just a pile of dirt or sandbags. .22lrs can travel up to a mile so you want them to all be absorbed.

I can't disagree. If you can avoid a paper trail, by all means avoid it.
Tell me, does the government have any business knowing the transactions of firearms of law-abiding citizens? I do not believe so.

I would have to say I agree, although you do sound like a criminal to be honest. However I have nothing to hide and sure the government doesn't need to know who is buying what or owns what but if SHTF you better believe every agent would assume everyone is strapped with over 100 million weapons in circulation.

Seriously bickering in these forums is unacceptable and should be within reason. Its the only real decent forum Totse has so be respectful and don't carry on childish acts. Be the bigger man if you feel wronged instead of putting up a fight and ruining a reasonable man's question who's thread it is.

Just because you have posted in a thread, days before I even registered, does not mean I am addressing you. Did your mom sleep on her stomach while she was bearing you or something?
Lol, thanks for the help on the .22 lr
I am new, my brother just bought a glock 45 and my dad a "judge".
So I figure I would go buy something. I would like a rifle, but a pistol would seem to do the trick.
Any recs for pistols?

I'm guessing they laughed when you mentioned .22 LR to them?
Tell us what you plan to use the firearm for. That goes a long way in making a good decision.

Tell me your dad didn't buy that Judge for defensive use.
I'll second the Ruger P-series guns as a good starter. Cheap, reliable, built like fucking tanks.

Spring field Xd is very reliable, simple, accurate, and durable. It is easy to field strip and clean. It takes me about 5 seconds to dissasemble my XD. Seems like it would be a good gun for beginners, as long as they know to keep those fingers OFF the trigger since it has no external thumb safety. The Xd only has a trigger safety and grip safety but ther are new models they are ofering with a external thumb safety.

Indeed.
Not just that...
I like to support my local gun store however when I can get the same product for one hundred (or more) less than their best price...
I go with a private sale.

Hows your brothers Glock working out for him? I'm debating on the Glock 21 or the XD45 for my next pistol.
If its your first pistol buying I would have to recommend the xD9. Absolutely great, weight feels nice in the hand, perfect grip unlike Glock's, great ammo price, and just overall the funnest hand gun to shoot that I have experienced.
I plan on eventually getting the whole xD line. Only wish they had the .45 xDm which probably wont come out for another year or two.

Ruger is pretty decent if you don't mind DA/SA or the less common DAO. They were selling P89's for $250 on a site, but sold out. They were police tradeins.
Personally I prefer Sig's and XD's.
