I have a very shitty shed that I want to fix. Here are the problems.
1.) Dirty as fuck (dust, grease, old shit from 300,000 years ago laying around)
2.) Bugs (spiders, wasps, etc).
3.) Fucked up doors.
I don't have any pictures of the shed so I can only describe it to the best of my abilities. The shed is about the size of your average bedroom. Somewhat large, with a cement floor. It's empty aside from some scattered old lumber and appliances which I plan to remove as soon as I can. There are two large eight/nine foot tall and about five and a half feet wide doors that are barely hanging off of their fucked up hinges, which I would like to tear down.
My first question is, will a simple hosing down with perhaps some soap and water clean up a dusty shed well enough? I think I may need some sort of degreaser, do any of you have any suggestions? It's a real issue for me and I cannot afford to hire any of those powerhose faggots to come spray it down. I'll be painting the walls afterward (these walls are fucking terrible, chipped, they need to be fixed like a motherfucker) so any solvent or poly coating suggestion that will make it look somewhat "new" is also appreciated.
After I clean it I'd like to pull a genocide on the insect population (spiders, wasps, etc) to keep them out for good. Does anyone here have any experience with some products that do this effectively? I'm also interested in something that will keep them out once they're gone, such as toxins or some sort of sealant.
The cement floor is horribly stained and ugly, as a well as impractical, I cannot have this. I looked around and I feel that epoxy coating is my best option and (amazingly, knowing my luck) the least expensive method I have found. Are those sixty dollar kits at hardware stores really enough to cover an average bedroom sized shed? The shed is about ten or eleven feet each way. Could I simply degrease the cement floor, lay a long piece of lumber across the outside edge (to prevent spill) and have a brand new shiny ass floor that easily? I am a total noob to this shit so I appreciate your confirmation/suggestions/flames.
I know this is mostly aesthetics, perhaps OCD type stuff, but it's pretty damned important to me. Thanks for taking the time to read my posts and to consider my dilemma.
