View Full Version : Video Games in Music
As I was listening to the new Ludacris today I realized how one of his songs sort of revolves around video games.
Any songs you guys listen to that talk about video games?

(Hook)
Yea, press the start button
Tell these hoes to press the start button
Punch in your code and press the start button
And let the motherfuckin' games begin bitch!
For anyone of these flows just press the start button
Tell my foes to press the start button
For a ludicrous show, just press the start button
And let the motherfuckin' games begin bitch!
Picture perfect, I paint a perfect picture
Eyes low 'cause Igloo done rolled the perfect swisha
Hit you with the weaponry, tell your soldiers to back down
I'm Raw like W.E., you'll get Smackdown!
How you want it?
I clobber my opponents like Blanka
Boy, you Street Fightin' with a monsta
A-Town mobsta, blowin' smoke like Rastas
Pullin' out guns like in Contra
Mo' toys than Tonka
I'm a fuckin' problem, rob 'em
It's Grand Theft Auto, his burner's right beside him
Hollow points headed to your dome
Hollow points headed to your home
Your head of lettuce shredded from the chrome
It's ludicrous parents think I'm a weirdo
I'm a God of War, you a Guitar Hero
Let's box like Tyson, you'll get Punched Out!
Welcome to Luda's world, now bring the blunts out!
(Hook)
I'm liver than NBA, Luda's Super like Mario
That Playstation 4 shit, you older than Atari, hoe!
Flows that'll make MCs Go! like Diego
Call me the Master Chief[h/ighlight], my life is like [highlight]Halo
Fightin' off haters, I'm the best, ask Khaled
I'm at the Call of Duty plus my Metal Gear Solid
My Resident is Evil, full of Southside riders
I hope your Pac-Man, I got 6 Virtua Fighters
That'll Blitz ya like Madden '09
Or hit you with the Mac and four 9's
Then later sit back and blow pine like it's somethin' to do
It ain't pretty, the Final Fantasy, they think they livin' SimCity
But I'm a MechWarrior, try me and I'll damage ya
Holdin' a Soul Calibur or shoot you like Galaga
Have my Creed Assassin' ya
So clear the room before the shotgun helps you meet your Ultimate Doom
(Hook)
Whether 25,000 or 25 mil'
Survival of the fittest, either kill or be killed
Get ya game on playa', get ya game on
Get ya game on playa', get ya game on
Doesn't matter whether it's 25 bricks or 25 bucks
Survival of the fittest, either stick or get stuck
Get ya game on playa', get ya game on
Get ya game on playa', get ya game on

I'm going to smack you for not highlighting Punched-Out! An obvious Punch-Out! reference (considering Mike Tyson was the original end boss).
This is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

Yeah, I don't listen to much nigger music so I can't really contribute :(.
However, I do love The Protomen, and their first album "The Protomen" is a rock opera about Megaman, so I guess that counts:
http://search.playlist.com/tracks/the%20will%20of%20one# (play the first one "The Will of One")
Lyrics:
Megaman: I have seen this city a thousand times. Through the glass twenty stories high,
I have watched this city burn. If everything that you said is true,
there is no hope someday they will learn. But if I stay here with you, then I will never know the truth
Do not say this is how it has to be.
But as I walk through the city streets, these frightened people watching me pass;
there is an evil that holds them here, and yet they wont try breaking its grasp.
But if I stay here with you, then I will leave them to their doom
Do not say this is how it has to be.
You do no better than the fools of this burning city.
Dr Light: You have heard me tell this story
Many times before you sleep
No matter how dark
Even now, theres hope for man
Megaman: Even here it is not safe
Even this grave has been defaced
Someone has written on this stone
In some angry hand
Hope rides alone.
Hope rides alone.
Hope rides alone.
[The buildings fly past him now. Megaman rushes towards the east side of the city,
towards the fortress, towards his fate.
The rusting metal loudspeakers mounted at intervals on the side of the stone wall are humming,
chanting now words to settle the stir created by a new hero. Words to quell a potential uprising.
Words to inspire fear.
Words to drive back the idea that freedom is within the grasp of one angry mob headed by one unstoppable leader.
One perfect Machine.]
Megaman: Do not say this is how it has to be You do no better than the fools of this burning city.
And as I live
There is no evil that will stand
I will finish
What was started: The fight of Protoman
Loudspeaker: We have control
We keep you safe
We are your hope.
We have control
We keep you safe
We are your hope
Human Choir: We have control
We keep you safe
We are your hope
We are in control.
[The voices of the men and women carry him forward. Megaman has no fear now that freedom is near.
Standing between the sea of men and Megamans final purpose is an army of robots, commanded by one leader.
This is not Dr. Wily. Wily has no power on a field of battle. This is Wilys second in command.
His face is shrouded in the shadow of the fortress, his rough features and solid construction obscured by the void of light.
The robots advance.
One by one they will fall. No mercy will be shown. No hesitation. These are machines.
They cannot feel pain. They cannot understand what drives Megaman onward. The rage is lost on these soldiers.
Megaman has his target now. The Commander of this army will fall.
All the wreckage he must wade through to get there is insignificant.

Not quite the same but I thoroughly enjoyed watching Scratch Perverts remix Techno Syndrome by the immortals about a year ago.

I had never played the game. I figured it was a game, but I was unsure so I just left it unhighlighted.

Yeah, I thought he wasn't highlighting characters but then I noticed he tried to highlight Master Chief but made a typo.

That's fecking awesome. I'd heard of The Protomen, but I'd never actually listened to them before.
Good stuff.
My favorites are Apocalyptica's (or it's always mistaken for them...) versions of the Zelda and Final Fantasy 4 themes.

Coming out with a new album soon too, just released the first single that was accompanied by an awesome cover of "No Easy Way Out" from Rocky IV.

Don't you mean House of Pain?
Am I the only one that remembers My Console (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JFvhaqT7Sc) by Eiffel 65?
Del Tha Funky Homosapien's project: Deltron had a song called Proto-Culture. All about games and consoles throughout the decades.

Frank Black - Whatever Happened to Pong? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-1vRCzZYGY)
Megadeth - Gears of War (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvIn7yo2qio)
Young Maylay - GTA:SA Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxnd9_N-d6Q)
The San Andreas actually sounds pretty good with lyrics.
Sorry I didn't highlight everything. I don't claim to know all about video games.
Don't you mean House of Pain?
It's a 90's rap act,they're all the same.

I'm a big fan of minibosses (http://www.minibosses.com/). Stemage's Metroid Metal (http://metroidmetal.com/) project is fucking badass, too. Also see: Rock Candy (http://starmen.net/rockcandy/).
There's plenty more out there.
Link, he come to town
Come to save the princess zelda
Ganon took her away
Now the children dont play
But they will when link saves the day
Hallelujah!
Now link, fill up your hearts
So you can shoot your sword with power
And when you're feeling all down
The fairy will come around
So you'll be brave, and not a sissy coward
Now link has saved the day
Put ganon in his grave
So now zelda is free
And now our hero shall be
Link! I think your name shall go down into history
Link to.... Link. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRAO4uoM1E0&feature=related)

Dude where you from, they're a local band here
I'm in Maine.
I wish I was in their area, I'd love to see a Protomen show. Their new cover of "No Easy Way Out" from Rocky IV is awesome as hell.
I was pissed that I missed Bang Camaro when they come up here, but it was a 21 plus show and my brother's 19, I would have felt like a dick going without him :(. Plus it was a 2 hour drive and that would have been a boring trip to make without someone else.
