Dream of the iris

Behind every event, behind every “thing”, object, form, there is a space. A sound comes into existence from this space, is suspended in the space for a moment, then returns to that very same space. Sometimes, meditating on this alone invokes a deep peace and serenity like none other. It is this formless space that suspends all things and carries them back homeward once their form is done.
You could think that form needs formless to exist and likewise. That somehow, without form, without existence, their can be no formlessness, no Source, no home. It is the space that is within all things, the space that surrounds all things, that I feel is the essence of all things “spiritual”, all things in existence. Once all the drama is over, once all the illusions of superiority, of control, of dominance, of fear, of hate, of happiness, of joy, of bliss, of any “thing” are over and done with, what’s left?
Space. Vast empty space. It is that “middle road” that is behind every drama and conflict and event of so much importance. This middle road doesn’t judge, doesn’t put it out there, doesn’t try to get you there (although, there is always the innate “knowing” somewhere deep within)…it stays in the background, letting all things happen as they may happen. It’s always there, though, waiting for whoever wants to venture down it to come. That is where all things return, where all things are going and where all things came from.
Is it no surprise that many feel we are preparing to enter Space, that our next step in evolution is to take us off the planet into the vast empty reaches of space? Where did Earth come from? Space. Where did anything come from? Space. What is space? There is so much power in emptiness. So much depth. Infinity often invokes the deepest spiritual lessons and it is where we can draw our greatest strength.
