I wish I had something like that to cruise around in. Too bad I cant find any fueling stations that carry "pure virgin blood mixed with the souls of innocent children" Thats about the only fuel that something like this could run on. I want one.

I wonder if there is any lag?

It probably makes more power without the turbos than any car on here in the first place. If you were to street that thing, I don't think you would give a fuck.

There appears to be a car stuck to those turbochargers. Look carefully though. :D

heh, the goal is a reliable 2800 hp at 25 psi, and i dont doubt they're going to make it, maybe more.

The Fast Times built, Sonny headed, 548 cubic inches, with twin 88's with ONLY 2 pounds of boost( waste gates wide open), it made 1009 horsepower at 7500 and it still hadn't gotten to peak torque, so it looks like the motor will go to 9000-9500 or so and with some boost it should make a little more...lol

we didn't even finish the car until Saturday, so we couldn't test it on
Friday. So I only made one qualifying run on Saturday, and with only 1.5 lbs
of boost it ran 9.57? @ 137...just to try the brakes front end alignment and
parachutes...everything seemed to go well

But by running so slow in qualifying, I had to face the number 2 qualifier (Jimmy Blackman)
in the first round.

He ran a 6.96? @ 210 and I ran 7.01 @ 207 in the first round, I was ahead of
him...but that's because I staged too deep in the beams causing me to
redlight by .067 of a second, it didn't want to stop in the beams because we "tuned it up", and it had enough power to drive thru the brakes. Now that I know this, I will push the brakes 'HARD" to make it not roll too deep. The boost controler wasn't the problem, I think we have something wrong in our end as far as activating it, its something we will fix this week in the shop

All in all the four link was very good, the tires rubbed on the rear of the wheel lips (so I cut the quarter panels with a saw....haha) the converter seemed close, maybe a little tight, but Im sure we will put more power in it to correct that. the car was basicly in NMCA form this weekend, I still need to add 150 more lbs. to be NMCA legal. but we were running the small (88mm) turbos. I think we are on the right path.

i love how he calls twin 88mm turbos small. just look at that piping, 4.5", 5"?

I like the steps built into the block.

Don't forget to uprate your front springs, it probably weighs a bit more than the factory setup, you wouldn't want it grounding out.

Upgrading your front drive is probably also a smart move. Don't want to come out one morning and find your car sunk 6ft into the tarmac...

hrrmmm wonder what they're doing to that 'burban in the back

i saw a twin turbo impala ss (with the lt-1 rwd, the proper impala). it was at the shop my buddy had his 99 z28 modified, almost 400 rwhp with the torque convertor at full lock, 370 rwhp normally. the trans cooler the put on that thing is huge.

I suppose I should have known really, but I was still disappointed when I realised it was going to be a drag car.

^ don't worry, I still have plans to build a Rover V8 powered Avenger (although Cortinas are drawing my eye again) with 5-speed gearbox, LSD, coilovers, big brakes, full leather interior and decent sound system

There's a Hillman / Talbot enthusiast near me. He has a few old Avengers, including a tiger or two for sale, and some sunbeams. In pretty good nick. He's also got a convertible Talbot Samba. Hideous. HIDEOUS.

Anyone else thinking of gearheads in 10 years? Frink with a frankenstein'd Avenger, AP2k with a fiero that runs, DTP with some 500ci monstrosity, midnight rider with chainsaw powered boat, etc? That should be fun.

Uhh, it is called "proper driving". Learning how to launch is one aspect to drag racing.

It's like calling an F22 a Veyron beater, this thing is just missing the wings.
