Last June I gave you guys the link to my site where my music was loaded at. I looked for feedback from you guys. I got some good feedback, and some bad. But the bad really stuck out.

I received a ton of shit from you guys for using samples, for using factory-based preset sounds in my beats that were not tweaked or creatively changed to become my own. Well I took your criticism to heart. And it's been half a year and I've made a lot of changes. I no longer use FL studio, I no longer use samples that are made by others, I no longer use factory based presets without adding my own touch on them. I took 6 piano classes over the summer and got absorbed in dozens of new bands.

Here you have, my new work. I want feedback and I want it to be honest. I know, since this is Totse I'm probably gonna get more than I expect from you guys, and I look forward to that. I pretty much got a unanimous "You Suck" last time I posted, but meh, composing/producing music has become a passion of mine. I've made progress and here you go:

2. Ambient Woes (dark, ambient)
3. You Can (ambient, rock)
4.**** Your Bassoon! (ambient, experimental)
5. **** Drum (experimental)
6. Computated (electronic, experimental)
7. I Own This Place (electro)
8. Acid Pong (electro, psychedelic, experimental)
9. String Beats (rock, ambient)
10. Crazy Arp (electro-ambient)

I'm not in any shape or mood to write a critique on it, but I like it.

I'm listening to [chill] Fight Song right now, and I really like the freeform beat that is flowing through the song.

That's actually my least favorite track but that's intersting that you like it. I never really thought that track was all that great. Anyone else?

Redo the piano in "You Can". It sounds like you only did one take and didn't bother to realize where you were going with any sort of melody. You also come in ever so slightly early/late to where the note should be played in relation to the beat at some points (which also doesn't help the whole sounding like you did it in one take deal).

The beat is good, the general feel is good. Just clean it up so that it's more solid sounding, and then add some actual musicality to it. Simply phrasing the lines better will make a world of difference.

Actually take the time to write out a melody to play on the piano, and then make some tweaks (big or small, so long as it keeps the same general feel) so that the piece doesn't get boring. Maybe even write in some counterpoint so that you can make it more interesting with some real dissonance at key points in the piece. If you want to make it even MORE interesting (without sounding just stupid), you can add things like syncopations, another light sounding instrument (like a flute, or a really quiet airy tenor sax) to do things on top of the main melody that's going on.

Jaga Jazzist is a band from...Somewhere in Europe I believe, but I think you'd like them seeing as what your own compositions are like. Look up "Day", "Kitty Woo", and "Airborne" for good titles from them that might suit your own style. I actually think you can even download those 3 titles from their website. Just look'em up!

Keep in mind the only song I've listened to so far is "You Can". I don't want to write a book as a fucking critique though lol so I'm just going to leave my post at that.

Plenty of timbre, but not enough direction. Even psytrance usually has a somewhat perceptible rhythmic progression.

Ambient Woes is awesome though.

Any chance you can zip up the lot? If so I'll just listen to it all on the way to/from work.

Well it's not bad. But it's not all that great either. Don't worry though, I still enjoyed it and you certainly are good at what you're doing but it just isn't flawless. You can't really help it if it sounds a little amateur or whatever because you aren't using the greatest equipment however I agree with Sydmorrison in that you should redo the piano part in you can. I'm not sure if you were trying to create this effect or not but the piano felt completely out of sync with the beat and therefore I just couldn't get in and enjoy it very much. Unlike Syd though I did enjoy the simplicity of the melody and so I wouldn't really change too much there apart from the timing of it. At times if just seemed as though you were trying to fit too many notes into one part and that didn't help with keeping it in rhythm.

Anyway, keep it up man. Maybe practice a little theory so you actually understand what the hell you're doing with the notes and why it sounds good when you do it. That is if you haven't already learned it all.

Dunno if I helped, but those are just my thoughts. I'm practisin analysing music for school so this was good for me :P lol
