Those games which were entirely awesome, yet received little/no attention, or just simply deserve a mention.
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee!
Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
Thrasher: Skate and Destroy
Tiny Tank
Topic.
By the way, I just found that The Suffering is free for download. Link (http://www.gamershell.com/news_60914.html).

...and then nothing at all. Mace Griffin got advertised to hell too, and Metal Arms had its demo and such, but after that, nothing.
Let's go with Sled Storm.
Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube. :D
That game was awesome.

The only complaint I have about Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is that it could've used a few more boss battles. It was an awesome game and I still play it sometimes, but fighting the same monsters over and over was kind of a letdown.
The steampunk world of Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura is always at the top of my list of underappreciated games. The massive amount of bugs the game was released with didn't help it much, but it's still one of the best rpg's that I've ever played.
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. I recently discovered this one while looking for other awesome games made by Troika. A pretty good adaptation of White Wolf's universe and a really good mix of rpg and fps. One of the few games I've played recently that's creeped me the fuck out.

POP got nearly universally positive reviews, two sequels and a movie.
What more do you need?

I'm going to say that this thread is about games that didn't get much hype and slipped under the radar.
So Prince of Persia, Fallout3, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Darkness...these don't belong here. Maybe they didn't get tons of commercials and advertising, but they were well known in the gaming community.
My nomination for great overlooked game: Folklore

Eh, I guess you're right, so you can opt POP out of my list.
In its place, I contribute Conflict Desert Storm 2: Back to Baghdad.

Surprised no one has mentioned Psychonauts
Also, that free download of The Suffering is great. I always loved extreme gore.

Grim Fandango. There should be a religion devoted to that game. Gamers who have never played or beaten this game are all a bunch of faggots. :o

I've having a problem with the pixel shading in The Suffering, but its still pretty sketchy.
And I contribute:
Crimson (fucking) Skies, whose only promotion is being released on Live as an Xbox Original download.

Holy shit, I love Crimson Skies. I wish they would make a second one. I have a quick off topic question, I saw GTA:SA as a Xbox Original d/l, can I like stay on live and play it because I own GTA:SA and when I put it in it lets me on live but its useless I cant even have the blades or w/e they are called now open.

Halo.
BUT SERIOUSLY, Freedom Fighters, the first two Bloody Roar games (fucking hilarious!), Gex: Enter the Gecko (bring him back muh fuhs!), ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Tomb Raider: Anniversary (I realise the series is well-known, but this one didn't get much press, yet is the best IMO).
I though that Shadow of the Colossus was praised. Did it not sell alot or something?

Guantlet was fucking awesome!
I remember so many sleepless nights co-oping with my friends.
Mafia was probably one of the best buys I ever made. It was like 5 dollars on one of those racks of games with 20 different versions of computerized checkers. It's where I got Planescape: Torment, too. And Tropico, which was also a very good game.
My nostalgic tenancies would lead me to suggest Sly Fox: Dry Cereal and Freddy the Fish. Put Put was also great.
Black and White was fairly under the radar, if I recall. That game was fantastic
Evil Genius was great, and under the radar. I spent many sleepless nights with that one, as well. It was like I was on some sort of drug.

this
epic game
Finally someone on Totse recognizes the greatness that is Mafia... Don't get me wrong, the game could've been far more epic and could've easily been THE best PC game ever made... if only Illusion knew how to program better...
Many here are listed that I agree with.
Grim Fandango
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
Freedom Fighters
Beyond Good and Evil
I would also like to add for your consideration the following:
Contact, and The World Ends with You, both for the DS.
I realize however that many have received mucho praise, but not too many sales? Or mainstream G4 type things?

Viewtiful Joe!
Viewtiful Joe got a sequel, two spin-off games, an animated series, and a fuckload of publicity when it was released.
You can't honestly say it was underappreciated. On the other hand, Starfox Adventures fucking rocked.
