Not sure if this is the right area to post this, but I've got a problem, and no amount of googleing has been able to help me.

System:
XP/SP2
Creative X-FI
All my other hardware meets the system requirements.

... I think that's just about all that matters in this particular situation.

While googling, I've found many suggestions ranging from downloading new drivers for my sound card, system restore, or even changing some sound settings(I think this is for vista only?) None of which has worked. (Btw, when I tried to use my system restore, it was "Unable to restore to that particular day. For whatever reason. Odd, I've tried several dates ranging from 1-2 days prior to months back.)

I guess what I'm asking is... HELP PLEASE>

Unhandled exception error -- My Fix

XP/SP2(3?)

My Computer>View System information>Hardware>Device Manager>Sound, Video and game controllers>

If you see something like 'IDT High Definition Audio CODEC' Disable it.

That's where my error stemmed from. it seems that when microsoft updated, it installed this new audio program/codec and by disabling it, I was able to play CoD:WaW again.

I couldn't tell you why it worked, or what it was screwing up, but it worked for me. I got the idea to disable IDT from someone else who found that disabling another of their audio devices worked for them "Uni something or other, idk."
