View Full Version : ATTN: Anyone with access to solubilities (Merck Index etc.)
Could you look up the solubility of DMT HCl in water (acidic water) and the solubility of the freebase in xylene or other nonpolar solvents?? That would be amazing....

I'm not sure about the HCl, but the freebase is roughly 1 gram per 30 ml of hot naptha.

I regularly use that site, and I just logged on with one of the passwords on bugmenot. I don't remember exactly where I entered it, but now I have free access to the Merck Index 14th ed.

EDIT: Other members seem to be having trouble getting it to activate. If you go on SM in the references forum there is a thread with like 20 links to Indexes 12, 13 and 14.

I just realized no one answered your question yet, sorry about that!

That's all they have online :(
Well damn. I was hoping for more info on the freebase in nonpolars... I've heard 1g is freely soluble in 100mL naphtha at RT but that's all i've got.
Now, freely soluble in acetic/mineral acids means that a litre of pH 2 HCl/water soln. will easily dissolve 10g, correct?
Also this is really basic, but i got kicked out of school before we did equilibrium and had to teach myself... pKa refers to equilibrium, correct?
Last one- what are your all's thoughts on freebasing DMT out of a water solution and filtering, using ammonia

1) Ammonia wash
2) Ice cold DH2O wash (vac filtered)
3) Recrystallized from boiling methanol
4) Consume :)
