Just curious...are we talking about hypothetical B&E techniques? A torch has to be the most attention-drawing, noisy, smoky and bright way possible of severing a chain, compared to the quickness and ease (not to mention far lower cost) of a good pair of bolt cutters, or just defeating the lock instead, which is far weaker.

If it's on the ground (and fucking huge), termite is a good option if you have access to it.
Otherwise, bolt cutters are the way to go unless you're not strong enough.

Napalm will do nothing. You need something hotter than napalm. Thermite is easy to make and will do the job. Use google to look up how to make and use thermite.

Step one. Put chain on.
Step two. Cover self in napalm.
Step three. Light napalm.

Just get some bolt cutters. My buddy had a mean pair of em. They were like 5 feet long.

Bolt cutters, angle grinder or thermite. Depends how thick it is.

i put what i wanted to melt about a good thirty minutes ago.

If they really want to show them how much it means (or rather doesnt mean) to them just chuck them in the bin and forget about them. personally,i relly dont give a fuck neither should my friends for 2 reasons.a waste of damn money and its a pathetic attempt to try to bring the couple together.

The best suggestion so far has been an Oxy-Acetelyne torch, but I'm willing to bet the OP has absolutely NO clue on how to operate one.

Second best - MAPP Torches. You can get them from hardware stores, auto parts stores (think Advance Auto), Wal-Mart, etc.

MAPP torches have a much hotter flame than propane torches.

Most people think propane when getting a "blow torch".... honestly you should completely forgo the propane and head straight for MAPP, the price difference is small. Propane torches are crap.

I don't think you'll ever get the metal hot enough to flow, but you will be able to get it hot enough to completely destroy it.
