In this thread we post random ideas realting to firearms.

My idea:

Modify a Mauser action to take AR, M1A, or AK-47 mags depending on what caliber it is chambered in. Obviously you'd only want the 10 round mags. The idea could produce tackdriver with removable magazines for much cheaper that other companies.

Should be pretty easy. The AK would be the simplest. The mag latch mechanism is very rudimentary and would require little modification.

Yeah, I'm more worried about having to remove a lug, then find a way to replace it.

Keep in mind the goal would be to have a removable magazine tackdriver for much less than my competition.

Why not go all out and make the rocket propelled chainsaw or the sniper crowbar?

An AR-15 that technically isn't a semi auto (and AU legal :D ), like say have the bolt stay open on each round so you have to tap the bolt release to chamber the next round except the bolt release is where the selector swich is on std AR's making it quite a fast process.

And yeah, 10 round detachable mags for rifles like Rem 700's Savage's ect without having to pay shitloads would be cool.

That would be sweet. I'm not up to snuff with firearms laws, but could you make something that goes in front of the trigger so the closing of that bolt would be one fluid motion and still call it non-semi-auto?

Yeah, that's the larger point I'm getting to. We have what I call a generation gap in each technology. Many people simply waste loads of time working on the next generation of said technology when you can apply what already exists to get 3/4 to 90% of the way there. Once the new generation of said technology comes in, the consumer gets fucked over because of the time spent developing it.

I have more to add on the above, so don't jump to anything yet if someone is about to post something foolish. next generation technology is a good thing, I just think we could go about in a more efficient and straightforward manner.

I simply threw out the idea of AR or M1A magazines because they are cheap, widely avalible, and are proven designs. So why not retrofit them to an older action?

Is it possible to hold in (ductape) the bolt release so you have a mock semi auto? Sounds intresting for shooting in other places that populated ranges, it would be illegal tough(?)

Something i'd love is a scope mount for a Rem. 70XTR that you can just pull a lever and the whole things folds to the left side, so it would be possible to use the iron sights without removing the sight completly, kinda like a Dragunov sight.

An API blowback 5.56 assault rifle.

Stop looking at me like that, it could work.
