Tell them to turn off the distortion and see if what they're playing still sounds good (not that it really sounds that great anyways, but I'm making a point).

Chances are it sounds like shit, as if a beginner guitarist was picking really fast and hitting frets that are part of no specific key. Why? Because bands that are like this have technique that is actually nauseatingly terrible, but it sounds like they're really good when they have their guitars overdriven so much that you could have a hamster run around on the guitar and sound like sweep picking.

I saw them back in September. Crazy bass player.
