getting a .22 rifle
like any other gun accuracy and reliability are my top priorities
I will be shooting weak loads (won't cycle semi-automatics) so semi-autos are not an option
I've been thinking of gettin a Savage MKII
Does anyone else have any ideas?
And for those that have a savage is it a good gun? Is the stainless steel version worth the extra $$

Romanian M-69 .22LR Training Rifle

I bought one of those for my first gun, you should be able to find it for 100 bucks, maybe 120.

Has flip up sites for 25, 50, and 100 yards. and a rail if you wish to put a scope on it.

Scroll down to the middle of the page. (http://www.classicarms.us/) I know the page is cheesy, but the guy is sincere and his rifles are good.

And on your weak loads, use the same amount of powder with a heavier bullet. You will get higher stopping power, moar accuracy, subsonic for suppression (not that you need to worry about that), and a bullet that stops when it hits something.

EDIT: Beaten to the damn punch...

Nearly everything I've read on those says they're nice rifles but suffer from feed problems quite frequently. What's your experience?

No feed problems.
I get ejector issues. sometimes the shell just pops up a little, and stays in the receiver. I just figured my ejector was worn a little too much, and you simple turn the gun, and out falls the shell.

Although, it does not share mags with any other guns that i know of, so finding spare or extended ones has been an issue.

CZ are a good choice and the chinese clones (Norinco) can be made to shoot well too. I have a norinco JW-15 (clone) out of the box it would only shoot 1.5" groups at 50y but once i bedded the action and floated the barrel and experimented with a few different loads i could consistantly shoot groups around the 12mm - 15mm mark at 50y with winchester power-points.

I test drove a guys CZ 22lr after we got done with the 90yd egg shoot. There were a few eggs left out there and I was eyeballing his CZ. He let me have a go at it and it was a sweet shooter. I scrambled the 8 remaining eggs with 8 shots.

My buddy has a bolt action CZ .22LR... and I have to say that thing is the most amazing .22 I've ever shot.
