Just kidding both are good in my opinion, but as far as im concerned if your not in a combat MOS (infantry, combat medic ect ect.)you really don't have bragging rights either way. I mean i've met a few marines that were like supply bitchs or cooks talking about how hardcore being a marine is and how marines are first in battle, yet they never been and never would be in actual combat. Same goes with army. Both have their bad asses and both have their faggots. I like army better though, marines just get more movie/video game deals is all.

You can be any MOS and find yourself in combat.. that's why everyone, regardless of mos, is trained to be able to handle themselves in combat.. why would they make me, a supply bitch, carry a rifle around 24/7 and made sure I knew how to use it, if I were never to see combat?!

But shit, I hope you're right and I never see any combat. I'd never want to be in a combat mos. I would never try to take away combat MOS bragging rights, but cooks and supply specialists get killed all the time too.

marines and army seem kinda similar to me, marines seem to be more strict and do harder PT.. and I've noticed that on average marines seem to have more.. I dunno, spirit? maybe it's ego. but I think both the uniforms are ugly but what I think you should do is go into the army recruiters and talk to them, and then go in the marine recruiters and talk to them.. see if one might be able to do more for you than the other. See what kind of bonuses you can get.

One diffrence i've noticed is that IN GENERAL(!!!) racism is more common in the Marines.

No I do realize that all MOS do go over seas and are in Iraq and Afghanistan and AT risk but obviously MOS like Infantry and such see way more risk and do more fucked up things then other MOS. Like my uncle that was engineer told me every time they took fire the engineers had to take cover and infantry would do all the shooting. Also I to have kind of seen more racism in marines. I'm Army (National Guard) and we have some ex marines and majority of them are racist, not saying army doesn't have its few racists but i've met more racist marines then racist army guys.

Without those engineers, the infantry wouldn't get where they needed to go. Everyone does there part.

For example: In soccer, attackers generally get all the glory for scoring goals. Defenders get little glory for saving goals, but their job is just as important.

I thought they just deployed? My buddy who just transferred out of Casa Grand to Illionois just got back from Iraq a month ago.

WE BOTH BLEED, whether its army or marines. Im a grunt in the marine corps. I have a lot of friends that are grunts in the army. Now from what I have seen personally the army fucks up a lot in combat, marines do too, but the level of professionalism is a little different. now, airborne rangers are a different story, they are top shit, we call them the armys marines lol. but when it comes down to it as long as your infantry and not some pencil pushing office bitch, I dont give a fuck what service branch your in, ill gladly bleed with you any day.

but to make my corps look good you should look into why the marines were given the pacific campaign in ww2 instead of europe, what the marines did in belleau woods in ww1, and what happened in the town of fallujah Iraq after the army failed to supress the insurgency activity in the area. Oh, and why army is pulling out of afghanistan and marines are taking over that scenario little by little. It all comes down to the difference in tactics both branches have.

Whats his MOS and unit? Im with A co 1/158th INF, and our guys just got back in april from Afgahnistan. I wasn't able to go got back from basic a couple months to late. This mission im talking about is a small group of volunteers to go with a unit out of Nevada not like our actual unit going. But a company of volunteers from our unit was supposed to go with some of the Hawaii national guard earlier this year but Arizona decided not to pay for us to leave with them which is for the better because I've heard that unit had a lot of causality due to retardation.

And I think that marines do better/harder PT and generally have more disipline. I have never seen a fat marine. However, there are more than a few over weight soldiers.

well dude we do have fat marines, just like there are fat soldiers, the thing is it all depends on what sector of the military you look at. if you look at the pencil pushers like admin they generally are either fatter or more muscular (they are always on base so they have a lot of free time to hit the gym, while us grunts are out on the field most of the time). Yea I heard that they are starting to get rid of Artillery, we had a unit here in AZ but it was broke up a couple years ago and the guys were dispersed. I've never had experince with artillery whether it be using it or seeing it used in real combat situation, but I definatly would say its probably a very bad Idea to get rid of it. Right now our enemy is a bunch of fucking towel heads using guerilla tactics but who's to say we won't ever have a "conventional" war again?

You should go with the Marines. That way, if you get shot, you'll have a real (read: Navy) medic taking care of your shiny new sucking chest wound, as opposed to some fucking Army puke (I kid, I kid, relax Army guy).

Seriously though, figure out what you want to do AFTER the military before you figure out what you want to do IN the military. Sure, it's all well and good to be some kind of ass kicking green beret delta seal, but that shit doesn't look too good on a burger king application. If you want to be a cop or something similar, go with the marines, it looks more impressive on a resume, if you want to do something else, check w/ the army.

You DON'T want to go active duty. trust me, it sucks. I wish I would have gone reserve or NG. The big thing for me is missing home so damn much.

That, and most likely everone who has been active for a long time will treat you shitty/"haze" you more than other active duty soldiers. There is an E-4 that just transfered to my unit who was in the reserves. He has been in the army for 7 years, and went to basic with our platoon sergeant. Never been deployed either. He acts like a douchbag though and thinks he knows everything. The funny thing was he flagged the master sergeant who was instructing our lane training while we were in the field. Yeah, that was a hilarious sight afterwards.

When I found out my bonus, the carrer councelor at MEPS just laid it out for me. I only qualified for 6 jobs, and they were kind of shitty jobs at that, so I said fuck it and picked the one with the 30k bonus. Fucking 13B, the shittiest MOS in the army. But I got a fat ass bonus, so i can't complain. If I picked 21B, I would have got a 6k bonus. You will most likely sign some shit right then and there and the carrer councelor will show you where it says on your contract about your MGIB and bonus. The councelors are nothing like recruiters, they are pretty good people.

Well luckily for me I don't have that whole missing home problem. I don't get home sick very easy at all. Its probably a matter of opinion as far as whether active duty sucks. I have heard its fun as hell from some, and some say it suck. All though agree active duty Infantry is WAY harder then National Guard infantry, lot more longer ruck marchs, hard PT and more field time.

Ever since basic I realized that I made a mistake going reserves, because i've always been a military type kid, but alas a nice REALLY good peice of pussy made me want to stay here. Trust me it was some REALLY good pussy and might have been almost worth it if we hadn't broke up so soon after BCT lol. This also is very true. In basic we had a couple guys have shit like this happen. One dude lost EVERYTHING thanks to jody, his bitch took his truck, kids, house, all his money and even his dog and went about fucking jody.
