Without reading the rest of this thread, I'll just give my two cents:

There is a "window" so-to-speak, where women are fertile. However, calendar-based birth control generally has a high failure rate because the fertility "window" varies greatly between women. A difference approaching a week in the fertility "window" is not entirely uncommon between different women.

Further, most don't consider that sperm can actually survive up to nearly a week if the conditions are right. Though generally the pH of the vagina is not hospitable to sperm surviving for more than a few hours, fertile cervical mucus (which occurs pre-ovulation) can keep sperm alive for quite some time.

So, actually, they're both wrong. The period is actually roughly (not exactly) five days, give or take, but women cannot get pregnant ANY time of the month. It's just that WHEN they can get pregnant varies greatly.

You can use calendar-based methods, but without careful monitoring of things like temperature, etc. you're essentially making an educated guess.

Its definitely can be a full week but definitely not two. It could be possible though, the woman's body is weird like that but 99% of the time its a 24-48 hour period after the woman drops her egg (remember one a month) that the egg is fertile. According to what I found sperm can survive days inside the vagina waiting for eggs so they basically can build up a 100 million man army in that bitch before the egg even hatches so to speak.
