I'm still quite new to the whole downloading Anime scene and I have no idea where the best places to look are nor any knowledge of techniques to examine the quality or format the show will download in.

I recently attempted downloading Elfen Lied which turned out very well. However it ended up in MKV format which is okay because i can switch the language and turn subtitles on and off. However, the only way I can watch this format in on my computer which i can deal with but i would have preferred it to be in AVI format so i could watch it on my xbox.

So i have come to you guys in need of some advice. Where do you go to find good Anime torrents (English dubbed preferably) and what formats do you look for? Also, for those of you who are experienced in dealing with MKV formats, could you let me know of any good converters or ways to burn them to DVD?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated :D

I usually start with torrentz.com when I'm looking for something. Torrentz usually searches other torrent sites like mininova and piratebay. Most people go to boxtorrents.com, but I often have problems with their torrent trackers. They still have a very large list of anime tho.

I used Simple Mencoder Shell GUI for converting. Xvid and dixv mostly though.

I use Mirc in some cases, but it can be hard to find a specific series sometimes.

Normally I either torrent if it's a newer series or an OVA and I download pretty high quality episodes from RapidShare or Megaupload since it's easy to bypass the download limits.

There used to be a regular here that was asshole enough for the entirety of spurious. He's gone now, so yeah, it is a lot better in here.
