Long story short, I got stuck in a ditch, friend pulled me out and somehow managed to rip all the wires in the wiring harness out from the computer.

How expensive will this be to fix. Its a 2000 Cavalier.

Well basically, it was dark out and we were pretty tipsy... I believe my frind hooked the tow rope onto the actualy wiring harness and ripped it out of the computer. About 58 wires were ripped out. Most of them ripped clean out of the circuit board thingy but some of them still have pieces in the circuit board and the wire actually broke. I will get pictures tommorow.

I think im going to have to replace the entire wiring harness for a cavalier. Any idea on the cost?

~$200-400 with labor, depends on complications.... also depends on how cheap you get a harness. If you can, get one from a junkyard or online fer cheap.

If that price estimate is true... I will be extremely happy.

See I am 19, saved up enough to buy this car, got an amazing deal (2000 cavalier, 108000km, safety, etest, nice dark green colour and extremely well kept car was previously owned by my highschool gym teacher). 2 Nights ago me and a whole buncha guys were at the bar, I went out to smoke a joint with an old friend I met up with so I get in my car and im like fuck lets just go down the street like 20 feet out of respect for the bar owner, so I go to pull over and because of the snow I slide into the ditch pretty much. My buddys like fuck man ur gonna get a dui if we dont get this out before a cop comes by. So the whole bar comes out pretty much trying to help. Anyways some drunkin fool attached the chain to the wiring harness (this is what I believe happened) and ripped it right fucking out of the computer.

I actually really loved the car and was very attached to it I just got the hang over driving standard and had finally made it mine. Then this bullshit happens. I am willing to pay 1000 to fix it. I am tripping out very hard over this and pretty depressed to actually, kinda ruined my holidays.

Someone told me to go to a junkyard get the part and leave about 6 inches of wires on it, install the part and then mend the wires together with heat shrink and some shit.

Long rant I know, Im just extremely depressed/angry about the possibility of losing my first car/love.
