So i'll be turning twenty in exactly two weeks. Of course I have had plenty of differnt types and brands of alcohol and mixed drinks, been to a few bars already thanks to military and all that jazz, but still id like to have my first legal drink at a bar on this day. Being that i'm going to be pretty fucking poor this day and only going to be able to have few drinks at the bar I might as well make it worth my while and man em up. This isn't the only alcohol ill be drinking I plan on buying a bottle of Captain Morgans since its my favorite. But my question is what is in everyone's personal Opinion the manliest of drinks? I'm thinking either bourbon, or whiskey with a beer to go with it, but not sure which brand of whiskey or bourbon since im more of a rum man. Anyone care to help me out?

There are multiple bourbon fans here in O.I. who I'm sure will be more useful concerning bourbon than I however I'm always happy to recommend Maker's Mark. I plan on visiting their distillery soon, a.k.a. when the weather gets warm. You can hand-dip your own bottle in the wax there so I'm quite looking forward to having such on my shelf of booze. :)

Seriously though, I recently tried Glenmorangie single malt 10 year ages scotch whiskey. I've had my share of Jack, Jim, 100 proof captain, but nothing has gone down like this. I think it's 42.5% abv, but this stuff will go down and sit in your stomach, it's good for ya.

Well one day I was trying to decide what to get and saw Bacardi 151, and a friend told me something about it, couldn't remember what it was he said but figured probably something good. So I get home without looking at it take a nice big huge swig, and thats when I realized that he had told me that 151 was extremely strong. Needless to say if 151 being only 75% was that much fun I can only imagine 99%.

all i buy any more for several reasons: get you absolutely trashed, lasts forever due to needing so little to get drunk,most people i know refuse to drink the stuff because its " criminal " so i get mostly the whole bottle to myself.( keep in mind im only 15 and im a pretty small guy only like 5"7')

Someone here mentioned whisky and beef jerky, so I tried it this weekend with some JD. You have to shred it. It actually tastes really good. Since the day I tried it, I've noticed my balls make a *ping* noise every time they collide.

Drink a substance of 98% alcohol. You'll be really manly then.

I guess you could drink some fucking nasty everclear, but I wouldn't recommend it. You'll just ruin your night by getting sick from drinking too much. It's really, really easy to drink too much everclear because it's a lot stronger than "normal" 40% ABV alcohol, and it's hard to keep count after you've had a few drinks. Don't take a shot unless you want to ruin your throat. Only drink it mixed.

I'd just go with a rum & coke/Cuba Libre, however you want to call it. If they have lime, squeeze the juice into the drink and put the lime in there too. There's no reason to drink expensive rums if you are going to mix them. You can drink lots of rum and cokes without getting sick, so it's full of win.

It's impossible to distill alcohol at a higher percentage than around 96%. It becomes an azeotrope. 190 proof (95%) is pretty much the highest you can get. Everclear is 95, not 99.

Drinking pure everclear straight will damage the lining of your throat and mouth permanently as I recall. Different people will of course read differently into manly, however:
1. Scotch, Bourbon or Irish Whiskey.
2. Old Fashioned, Manhattan or Martini (GIN!) Cocktail. All are classics -- the old fashioned IS the first cocktail -- from a manlier era, they're refined, they consist mostly of alcohol, and they have large followings for being delicious. Use a good liquor to make them though in the case of the Manhattan or Old Fashioned it need not be top-shelf (it should be good, of course, but save your best stuff for sipping). Here's the clincher though: you sip a cocktail. You do not down it. You sip it. Savour it. Enjoy the flavour. Now that is manly. Anyone can snap back some firewater, it takes a man to enjoy the stuff. If you must snap something (understandable, it is a tradition of sorts in many places), have some vodka or ouzo or German schnapps(less sweet, stronger than US schnapps) or something meant to be taken in that form.

I was drinking in a pub with a buddy once and about 12 people stumbled in who were on a stag do and bought me one of these, rank to say the least.

Anyone can snap back some firewater, it takes a man to enjoy the stuff. If you must snap something (understandable, it is a tradition of sorts in many places), have some vodka or ouzo or German schnapps(less sweet, stronger than US schnapps) or something meant to be taken in that form.

Shit, even when I do buy $10 bourbon (there are some good ones), I still drink it with nothing more than a couple ice cubes.

Did you drink it right? If you drank it too slow and let it curdle then yeah, its gonna fucking blow. But if you down it like you should its like chocolate beer. Then only thing better than chocolate beer is chocolate beer being sucked from a woman's breasts.
