I posted this in the shoplifting megta-thread but felt it deserved it's own thread.

Another idea I came up with for those self-checkout lines at grocery stores.
If you want some alcohol, maybe a nice bottle of wine or champagne for the girl, or whatever.

Just make sure it has some weight to it:

- Note where the barcode is on the item (be careful, as some items will have them in more than one location!)
- Place the item on the scanner and ring it up as bananas
- No ID check, and 5lbs of Guinness weighs the same as 5lbs of bananas, and will come out a lot cheaper. :p

Pick a different bulk item if you want to go cheaper/push your luck.

As usual, works best when it's busy. The registers were nuts on Christmas eve and I imagine they'd be the same on New year's Eve.
Don't overdo it though, they usually have a camera in each machine looking down at the scanning area. If there is a pattern, they'll look into it and you'll spoil it for yourself and probably everyone else.

There's always the chance some manager notices and asks to see your ID...not likely but it could happen.

Personally I don't see why you'd spend the money and risk getting caught when you could just as easily steal what you want. Grocery store security sucks.

All the stores I have been to only have 4 self check out machines and one person watching them all and all the processes going on. Where I am at they would easily catch you.
