View Full Version : Friends with benefits in a co-habiting situation

So, there I was on Christmas, off my face, and my flatmate comes home. Her and I have a couple and end up getting on quite well, over the last three days, we have repeated the experience (in part due to the partaking of various substances, and because it's Christmas, damn it!); however, I am concerned about any potential issues and strain this could place on our co-habiting relationship..
Thoughts? Similar experiences? Flames?
It's asking for trouble basically. If you can avoid it, it's generally better to, but it can be really tempting.

If you do it, you're both toast-- unless you guys can live perfectly together till whenever.
Still...

So, the general consensus, is better not to? Crap.. :(
Well, we have got on OK since then, and she doesn't seem clingy, nor has discussed the possibility of it developing into a relationship..
Still, I have a nagging doubt it may come back to bite me at a later date.. Ah, well. It's done now. Hopefully I'll avoid too much bother.

A bit para-incestual. No?

Sorry to disappoint, Moonmeister, but we are not (insofar as I am aware) related.. :p

And you find no relation to having sex with someone you shouldn't & who you have got to continue living with? Funny...maybe you should consider some of your more attractive relatives? :)

honestly i think that you should just be careful. Make sure jealousy doesn't play a part in anything you two do. Just remind yourself that you are just fuck buddy's and that is it.
If you so choose to bring it to the next level I would suggest that you once again be careful.
Respect and communication that is all.

Sounds oh so civilized a way. How likely? I wonder.

Just because people live together (have you had much of the living with room mates?) doesn't mean that they can easily get along as house mates, let alone be intimate.
For instance: say you had a hot work mate or brother? You sex it up together. A month later it all goes down the shitter & you're one/both bitter?
Do you easily keep working/living together? Should others at work/home who see the vibes take sides? What if they do? Would you find it interesting? :p
One of my uni housemates and I are dating [also lived together in residence halls last year but nothing developed until recently] - insofar as any kind of relationship with someone you live with, be it fuckbuddy or otherwise - it's doable, you just have to make sure that you communicate well with each other and have seperate spaces if you need to be apart for a bit. It's difficult if you make it difficult.

i know but winston seems like [so far] that he gets along just fine. but i was simply stating that he should be careful just in case one does become bitter. i understand what you are trying to say though...

Cool. It would be a mystery to some people. You just never know how soft in the head people are anywhere...
Folks do seem to have all sorts of relationship trouble, here there & everywhere. Often because they act like idiots.

What if she do not care much for the aborting? I wonder: any use of BC? Girls like that still have the drunken sex, just like in days of old. It would be funny... or maybe not. :p

Different strokes for different folks....i cannot say i have actually been in the position to actually consider aborting...but i am assuming that if it was just a fuck buddy my first thought would be to get one...
but drunken sex is not my thing. so i highly doubt that i will make that mistake...hopefully.
