I'm in need of a good movie, I feel like I've seen them all though and I just can't think of anything else.
This is driving me crazy, could you guys reccomend me some quality horror movies?
(no, I don't think saw/the ring/hostel/the grudge where good movies so keep that in mind).

I prefer 70's/80's horror, but anything decent would do.

The only movie that ever really scared me was The Ring.

The only movie that really creeped me out was The Shining.

Saw it in a theatre on a double date, felt spooked for hours afterwards.

Yes. I dislike little girls in horror movies.

Blair Witch Project (1999)
Candyman (1996)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
The Hitcher (1986)

And I must mention Cube (1997), which creeped me the fuck out.
Don't bother with Hostel, Turistas (ridiculously stupid), Saw, etc. See Cube.

Silent Hill was ok,mostly cause I just seen it last night. But what scared the shit out of me growing up was 'Night of the Living Dead' {1990 version}. Also was 'Children shouldnt play with Dead Things' {1970s}.

I found this top twenty list of haunted house films recently, and was impressed with it. It contains some good 70s/80s horror.

I've seen every movie mentioned in this thread, Silent Hill was awesome (considering most movies that are inspired by videogames are awfull).

I haven't seen a few on the site you gave me hooloovoo, thanks.

Cube isn't really scary, it's more of a "HOLY SHIT" kind of deal. You won't be covering your eyes for two reasons: 1. It's not that scary. 2. It's fuckin awesome

Cube is only 'scary' because of the situation, it doesn't really have any gore or scary people / things in it.

I recommend Sphere and Event Horizon. But you've probably seen them, most people have.

If you want to actually be scared, you're much better off playing video games. Any Silent Hill game should do the trick, as well as the Resident Evil remake for GameCube.

Horror movies haven't really scared me in a long time, and many of them are utter crap, but honestly, even the bad ones are fun to watch late at night.

The original Hills Have Eyes.
The Howling.
The Fog.
The Thing.
Dog Soldiers.
Ginger Snaps.
The Dark Hours.

I found these to be enjoyable.

I tried downloading 'the crazies' by George Romero but couldn't find it.

I don't want to be scared that much, as a matter of fact the only movie that really scared me was IT but that was because I was really young when I watched it.
I just like to see gorey stuff in a classy way.
None of that excess over the top bullshit they make nowadays though.

If you thought IT the movie was scary, I strongly recommend reading the novel or listening to the audiobook. Honestly, take everything you thought was scary and good about the movie and multiply it by about 100.

The only reason I thought it was scary (and still scares me) is because I was 8 or 9 when I watched it.

I tried listening to ''thiner'' as an audiobook once, that guy's voice was annoying as fuck.

I really don't have the patients to read books.
And this is ''moving pictures'' not ''read a motherfucking book will ya''

Aside from the first guy being diced, Rennes having his entire face melted off with acid, and that cop going crazy and killing everyone else, and then being sliced in half by the shifting cube... no gore at all.

But no, it wasn't scary. Just awesome.

Yeah it's bloody, but not gory in a sense that you are disgusted. It looks quite low-budget if I'm honest.

Fulci and Argento are both Italian horror directors. The later partially funded Romero's original Dawn of the Dead, from 1978.

Fulci films - The Beyond, The New York Ripper, The House by the Cemetery, City of the Living Dead, Don't Torture a Duckling, and Zombie.

Argento films - The Cat o' Nine Tails, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Deep Red, Inferno, Phenomena, Tenebrae, and the Stendhal Syndrome.

Obviously neither a complete list.

And of course, the only Argento film that really matters, Suspiria.

Yeah, it was an independent canadian film. They only had two cube sets, and they had to keep changing the colour panels in each one. So they would film all the red cube scenes, then all the green cube scenes, etc. It was filmed completely non-linear to the script.

Regardless check out Suicide Club. While I can understand you'd think the great majority are shit (and like American horror, the great majority really are) Suicide Club is a worthwhile watch - if only for the opening scene.
