In retrospect, 2008 didn't yield very many truly memorable games, did it? Every decent game that came out had some recurrent flaw in it that just made it half-decent; nothing special, nothing that's really going in the hall of fame. No sir, 2008 wasn't a particularly great year, especially with the letdowns of Haze, GTA4, and Army of Two.

So hopefully next year will churn out some real competitor's for 2009's Game of the Year. It seems that they're starting off the year well with Skate 2, Prototype, and Resident Evil 5. Then there's the projected releases of Killzone 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Postal III (for the 360!), and Saboteur. We've got a hell of a year ahead of us.

Seems like a damn good year to me. Maybe not as amazing as last year, but still quite good. I guess if all you own is one console it might have seemed a little lackluster, but if you own multiple consoles it's a pretty decent year I think.

WARhammer is most memorable for me.

I thought this year was pretty solid, actually. I mean, not every game that comes out is going to be exactly as amazing as its publicists make out. Fable 2, for example, was supposed to have dynamic weather seasons, but didn't; doesn't really stop it from being a fun game though.

Even games like the new Prince of Persia that were, in my opinion, disappointments were still mildly amusing and, in fact, a damn sight better than a lot of the other crap out there. For instance, I was in GAME the other day and saw Gordon Ramsey's 'Hell's Kitchen' - WHO THE FUCK IS GOING TO SPEND £20 ON THAT MU' FUH?

Over all it was a good year for video gaming. Especially sequels.

I see threads like this every year, saying the next year is going to be better and kick ass... then it blows too...

You have very selective memory because this year has been pretty damn good for video games. It didn't quite have the beauty that was late 2007, but it was solid.

not sure if its official, but game looks fuckin amazingly awesome. Like i really need to get a ps3 just for this game, seriously, it looks fuckin awesome. Im a huge GoW fan, and just from the previews so far. Im convinced kratos is the most badass video game character to exist, ever, duke nukem right behind.

I just got it today, and its pretty slow moving from the beginning, and its pretty hard to.I really cant or should say nething else since im only about an hour in, maybe, I just got the quest to go find the satelite thingy for three dog

That God of War trailer isn't impressive at all. I don't know what you're seeing, but it looks like the same thing as the first 2 games and the PSP game. Same shit different console.

I mean, the original God of War games pushed the PS2 to the limit, it was astounding how much graphical prowess they pushed out of that machine. Considering how much more powerful the PS3 is, I was expecting an insane jump and honestly, I was disappointed.

Lulz, if those are prerendered and the game follows the Killzone and Motorstorm school of "deliver on half the graphical fidelity of the prerendered trailer" then they might as well just port Chains of Olympus to the PS3.
