View Full Version : My plan to shoplift from Best Buy

I would wear two shirts, under a jacket, and staple the two shirts together at the bottom, then cut a hole in the surface shirt. I would proceed to the computer PC game section, and if there are no people in aisle, snatch stacks, and stacks of games in a matter of seconds. Then, I would proceed to DVD section, and snatch complete seasons of shows. Then, snatch many CD's. I hope to get 100 respective product types. The only two problems are the security barcode things, and live surveillance of cameras. Usually, they warn of the device, if it is not visible. Then, I plan to sell them on whatever internet site can sell them all in one day, with no hold. If that is too unreasonable, then the one with no hold, which sells the fastest. Then, I plan to hit another store, to re-up. I would keep carefull track of which stores I've hit, so I only hit stores once every several months. If I d\hit a store I've already hit a couple months prior, I will strike at a completely diffrent time of day. I have to be fast, because people like me get watched, but if I'm fast, I can snatch a ton, and only problems are the afformentioned ones of the tags, and surveillance. If I get caught, I'd just let myself get caught, because last time, it was $500 fine, and 2 hours in police station jail. They also erased it from my record, when probation expired.

You guys are professional shoplifting masterminds, I know this is the best place for advice.

you seem to have it pretty down, but don't try to jack so much at once, maybe the computer games one time and cd's the next.

i dont think you could steal so many items at one time with out gettin caught you should start small steal a couple of games remove the plastic and barcode while in a deadspot where the camera couldt see you of in the corner facing a wall pretending to look at something then stuf in in your shirt while holding a shitty game you wouldt want to steal to make it look like you didt do anything

Depending on the size of the store, this might not work out so well. I know someone who works in the local Best Buy. It's not tiny, but I've been in bigger. Security is pretty much always watching the cameras and they tail any one who is behaving even a little suspicous. They catch around ten people a month trying stuff like this.

This isn't Walmart security you're dealing with.

I don't know I work at bestbuy geeksquad. I have seen the stupidest shit work and the slyest people get caught. If you are willing to take the risk do it. Bestbuy is doing shitty right now like most retailers, and morning to mid-day they have shit for staffing. The evenings will be hard. You should try and go for the busiest afternoon possible when there are the most people and the least staff.

any questions feel free to ask since i work there

Do they have a room, where they monitor surveillance? Also, is there a place where people monitor surveillance, and radio to the floor associates that a shoplifting has taken place? Also do you know if other states have similar policies?

ALL stores have an SDR room the has all of the surveillance equipment. They store recordings for over a month. No one typically mans the room, it is used to go back and review incidents.

The cameras that are manned, are monitored in a station in the very front of the store by the guys in the yellow shirts (LP). You can see the station it is usually positioned between the entrance and exit doors. It looks like a podium of sorts. If you chat with the LP guys for a minute you can glance at the video feeds and see what areas they can see.

The laptops, expensive cameras, and ipod areas are heavily monitored.

Just go to Staples. No cameras + no security = win.

Staples generally has a few shitty computer games and no TV shows, CDs or anything like that though. I guess it's perfect if you feel like lifting paperclips or some shit though.

So what percent chance will the SDR room be monitored? I guess this is going to be a gamble. I want to hit a store every couple days, and if its that chancey, I don't think it will be that profitable.

Every place is different, if they have more than 1 guy working security I don't see why one wouldn't be watching the cams. If there is a specific Best Buy you're planning to hit, what are the exits like? Is it in a mall or on its own? Is there one of those greeters guarding each entrance?

Here's the thing: you're gonna look sketch as fuck walking in and grabbing shitloads of merchandise, especially at the quantities you're talking about. If the place has any sort of security, you will probably be watched your entire time there, and they'll most likely plan to stop you at the door. I don't really see how you're gonna be able to conceal all that stuff and leave without getting caught, unless you make a run for it. That won't be hard, unless there's a greeter. If there is a greeter you'll need to find a way to get past him without having him slow you up so LP can smash you.

sometimes the tags are on the inside of the stuff... its happened to me before. so if your gonna pull some dumb shit like that just plan on the alarms going off.

heres a better way than the shirt thing if its the least bit cold where you live; you have a jacket and a hoodie with 2 layers of fabric. take the hoodie, put it on and cut a horizantal slit in it about nipple height or a bit lower. this turns your hoodie into a giant pocket SHAZAMM. put the jacket(prefereabley a bit loose) on over your hoodie and now you can stuff things in the giant pocket without looking like a fool because you wont be bulging out in odd places(if you do it right) i used to steal books like this and would take 2-4 paperbacks at a time and from the outside you look completely normal if you spread the merchandise around inside your pocket. this also works really well if your retartedly skinny like me because the bulk of the merch dosnt show as much.

Walmart won't do shit if you shoplift, and the employees don't give a shit anyway.

get high value DVDs, get as many as you can get down your shirt in 2-3 minutes then as soon as you get near the doors sprint. wear shoes you can run well in and have a ride waiting across the street. get the fuck outta there. get home and craigslist those bad boys for like $20 a piece and they'll be gone the same day. you could ask more to get what they're actually worth but fuck it you got them for free and cheap prices moves shit on craigslist.

are you brain dead? that would never work. or maybe its just the best buy they built in my town...with top of the line security: people at enterance check your bags n shit, camera coverage for every inch of the store, heavily locked up shit with tags on and in items, not to mention fire exits are locked! you have to wait 15 seconds for the fire exit to open it states on the fire exit door, new best buys are impossible to steal even with top of the line stealing equitment...so nothing short of an inside man or a burgulary would get you the loot

if you seriosly want to hit best buy....go after their freight trucks...it may be armed robbery but you'll get loot beyond your wildest dreams

-just my 5 potatoes

^Yeah man, good plan. It would be better to rob a gun store, though.

The only thing I'm worried about now, is whether E-Bay, or Amazon will let me deposit paypal funds into a greendot account. [add name] probably gave me the best info I could have got from here, so the amount of problems I have have decreased, significantly.

I've tweaked the plan to my satisfaction, if it works, Ill post in the sticky.

I wear a raiders jacket, with the two stapled shirts. I go to the LP podium ,and make sure the bathroom enterance isn't monitered live. Then, I make sure no one is watching the bathroom enterance. I of course, would either do this in the middle of the late, morning, or whenever there is absolutely no body. I then take 10 complete season sets, for 20 diffrent shows, and keep track of the exact number of complete seasons I take. If bathroom enterance is monitored, then whenever no one is watching, I pull out a DVD, and unwrap it, taking off the security device. I do it one by one, knowing exactly how many I have, and reaching for that many unwrapped DVD sets. Otherwise, I go to the bathroom, and do it there, walking around the censors as I go in. Then, simply walk out. If the fucking cameras aren't monitored, scott free. 200 DVD sets, I would sell for $25 a piece, brand new, online, and would get $5,000. I would also make sure store employees can not see my car in the lot, from the store. I would either wear a hoodie, or hat, and sunglasses.

Hopefully, they would all be sold in one day, I would package them, and ship them out. Then, the next day, I would go to 17 diffrent ATMs, and take out the $300 limit, on each one, from the greendot card, and shoplift again, the next day, then, when I got home, put them online, sell, ship out, collect money, and repeat. It's too bad nothing ever works out like that in life. But that is my desired scenario.

I wish you guys had powers, and were able to tell me exactly how to make that happen, like supernatural phsychic abilities.

2008-12-29, 17:06
all that nonsense about removing the tags and shit is pointless.. just stuff your shirt and run. you are just adding time in the store to arise in suspicion, you may as well just go balls to the wall and minimize your risk.

LJ
2008-12-29, 20:02
Yeah I agree with 556, removing security tags on 20 DVD sets is gonna be way too noticeable and take way too much time. Honestly I wouldn't even bother concealing. Security is gonna notice you no matter what and you'll probably have to run anyway. If you conceal then go towards the door they'll know you're about to leave. If you browse near the door area while you've got the DVDs out in the open, they probably won't be expecting you to just run out. Get the DVDs, browse a bit near the door area, make sure no one's close enough to stop you, and run your ass off.

There is only one way that this is going to work, and here's how to do it.
-You need at least 2, but will work better with three people.
-Have 2 of the people go in at separate times, getting the cd's and dvds out of there cases, and stockpile these at one hidden location in the store.
-Have the 2 people buy something that they could later return, if they had the balls to
-Now get person three to go in and go "shopping" making sure that they buy anything you could stuff cds and dvds into. (Alternatively the two people could stockpile the cds in an already selected item, ready for pick up, as this would make it less risky for person number 3.)
-Now have the person buy the item/ items with the merchandise in them, and if they do figure out somethings up, the person could claim he bought the item and had nothing to do with the box stuffing.
