View Full Version : cellphone for bmw
Hey guys, I am not 100% sure whether this is where this thread goes but it has to do with my car so whatever
Anyways, I bought a used bmw recently a 325 and its running awesome everything is perfect with the car, i just want to know, how does the cellphone mecanism for the car work, I mean, I am aware it has a microphone and everything so you can rig up your handheld so you can talk while you drive without using a handsfree. anyone wanna enlighten me on how that works? thanks

The curse of the labrynth knob thing. Find your way around that shit and turn bluetooth on, then enable it on your phone. Should be as simple as that.

Check your owners manual, I'm not sure the 99s had bluetooth. They might have used the old system.

^Yeap. '99 325's don't have bluetooth. I somehow thought his car was a new BMW, which he got secondhand.
He could get bluetooth installed at a car electronics shop though, if he wanted to hook his phone to the car that way.
so getting a bluetooth for it at a car shop wouldbe the only way to get it done huh?

Well you either have to get a phone cradle installed or get bluetooth. Seeing as the cradle is ugly and unsightly, they're both about the same amount of labor (if not slightly more for the phone cradle), and cradles are phone specific / can only be used for that one phone I would suggest you get bluetooth.
alright guys thanks a lot for your input

diy installation no shop needed.
That's expensive...a lot easier to get a fancy HU with bluetooth, such as the Pioneer DEH-P7000BT. I'm running that in the mini, and it works extremely well - pairs with my phone automatically as soon as I get in the car.
