Seeing as Japan is trying to gain a foothold in the western world, they've been pumping out musical prodigies for a while now. This has also invaded many shoujo anime's. Ever notice the nice lilting violin riffs playing in the background of most shoujo anime? Recently there have been a few animes popping up strictly about classical music. I've only come across two of them so far, both of which I have seen. The first one I saw is called Nodame Cantabile and it is FANTASTIC! Probably my favorite anime at the moment, I've still got it saved on my computer. Great characters and music. Certainly a must see for fans of anime and classical music. The other one I found is called la corda d'oro (the golden cord/string). My guess is that this anime was set for a younger audience. Nodame Cantabile is set in a music conservatory in Japan (college level) where la corda d'oro is at the high school level. Nodame Cantabile beats la corda d'oro on all counts. Music, story, characters, and animation. Still, It wasn't half bad. Nodame Cantabile is more of a slice of life type anime where la corda d'oro is straight harem shoujo.

If anyone reading this knows of any other animes about/involving classical music please please please let me know.

Gantz features a lot of opera music in the background.
Elfen Lied again has some nice classical tunes.
Neon Genesis featured a few nice orchestral pieces.

Seen em and I love em all. Although Gantz anime was kinda shitty, the manga was fucking brilliant. Thing about Nodame Cantabile and La Corda D'oro was that they were about classical music and musicians. Instead of fight scenes they had concerts. Nothing beats the dance episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion though, thats one of my favorite moments in an anime.

I'd watch but I have a particular distaste for Swan Lake and the Nutcracker and such. Unless I hear its good, then maybe.

I rly enjoyed it, but I could also see how some people would hate Princess Tutu.

First off, I think it falls under the category "magical girl" anime. It's probly not for everybody...

Legend of the Galactic Heroes OP and Ending have classical music. It's from the 1980s. Battle Scenes are ALL classical music.

Tytania OP is classical.
Zeta Gundam OP is Classical as well

The Haruhii episode where they pay tribute LOGH, Space Battleship Yamato, Crest/Banner of the Stars has classical music in the battle scenes. But they're paying homage to LOGH ('Ginga Eiyuu Dentensu'-literally Legend of the Galactic Heroes in English)

It's a shame japanese producers can't hold off a couple years to start producing an anime which always in the end taints the original story. IE Gantz, FMA (coming back in April... actually).

Gantz should have been an on-going series and followed the epic manga story. The animation budget was so small for the anime, the producers could have easily payed for another 26 episodes.
