Edit: I set an alarm off 5 times in a row there and no one even looked. If you see movies and dvds and shit in those cases, just walk out the door with them and smash them later.

Also, why sprint, unless you are being chased? Even if they say "Hey! Stop!", just keep walking, don't turn around. If you run, they KNOW you stole. If you walk, maybe you are just an asshole who's got better things to do.

Walk out but be aware of your surroundings. Someone asking you to stop isn't gonna be a problem, someone coming up behind you and grabbing you is. So keep an eye out as you leave...do the standard walk out but if someone looks like they're following you speed up, run if necessary.

I used to work at B&N, and they're in the same company as Borders...they have a no-stop policy. If you set off the alarms, they'll call "Sir?" and when you don't stop, that's it. They will never follow you out.

Yeah you have to know when to walk and when to run which is why getting about 50 feet away from the store to perhaps even 100 (good distance from the entrance) and make a somewhat jog will get you some distance. Most likely they aren't going to yell your name. Every time I have been hit up by security they are always hoping your not paying attention and just walking straight because they know who it is and have you on camera they don't need you to run.

just to be ridiculous here is my suggestion: install one of those back up cameras like they have on cars, on your butt so you will always know you if there is someone trying to chase you.

i dunno, it might just be the store here, but i stole all of the books (novels) for my english class and kept the $. i stuffed 5 novels into a hoodie pocket and just walked out while talking to a friend.. i walked out along with someone else, it beeped and we continued our conversation. it was a big rush, like a 80$ heist on shitty novels.

there are seriously no worries at borders except for the odd vigilante, but come on now...

look at the people who work there anyway, i'm sure you would have no problem going toe to toe with any of em no matter how much of a pussy you are.
