View Full Version : question about mexi strats
ok so, my Gibson LP broke for the second time and its not worth repairing again. im buying a new guitar tomorrow and am looking to get a Fender strat.
i have the money for an American, but i wanna know if i do some stuff with a mexi (new pickup, action work, maybe a new bridge) if there would honestly be enough difference between it and an american made one to justify the cost being over twice as much.
i've been playing for 8 years now but have never owned a Fender. i'd like some input from ppl who've had experiance w/ both mexi and american strats

From what I've heard, recently, the american strats are getting made cheaper, and they're not much better quality than the mexican strats.
What the fuck did you do to your Les Paul to make it not worth fixing?
Also, you should try thinking outside the box and looking at a whole bunch of other guitars. Strats are nice, but they're a little bit one dimensional.

well im glad i didnt buy a new strat. i bought a used american one, its a 97', but in PERFECT condition. only $700 too :)
i broke the neck right behind the headstock at the LP's weakest spot. its the second time its broke in that same spot. its a pretty damn bad break, lots of splintering and stuff. the first time it was an unusually clean break and was fixed pretty easily, that was about a year and a half ago. this time i had it leaning against my bed when it slipped off and fell on the carpet fretboard down. sucks balls. :(

Damn man. Thats some bullshit.
Especially because it's not like you can just unscrew the neck and put another one on.
