1) reform criminal justice--legalize and tax drugs, gambling, prostitution; close the priisons--have convicts pay fines and/or do community service (including working on chain gangs), and exile violent repeaters; abolish the death penalty.

2) Abolish the IRS, institute a national sales tax.

3) With the billions saved through the above, institute universal health care.

As much as I dislike income taxation, a VATS tax won't work unless it's a progressive taxation. To such an end, it's only better than income taxation in that you can't dodge it; you can only buy cheaper. In that case capitalism works even better to make a cheaper product that is appealing or a more quality product at a lesser price. This is actually not a bad idea if we start tariffing products that we should be making here.

That may be brilliant for the consumer, but not for the human being. If demand for cheaper goods increases as rapidly as it would in this situation large companies would trim domestic workforces, squeeze suppliers, increase unregulated foreign workforces and cut existing foreign wages, increase expenditure on lobbying and shirk non-enforced environmental obligations. If the end product is cheaper, then make no mistake, the companies and corporations will go out of their way to make production cheaper.

HealthCare should be the highest priority for the government.

I think the government should resolve to make itself smaller.

I think the government should resolve to make itself smaller.Since capitalism has evolved into imperialist capitalism which necessitates a larger centralized state to provide military might to maintain US global hegemony, I wouldn't count on the government getting smaller anytime soon. It will only continue to grow.

I am quite well versed on the effects of globalization on the average peon abroad, thank you, so stow it. If we can make more goods HERE in America CHEAPER than in China, how the hell is that NOT good? Humans have to suffer to survive. You do not get handed food and water on a silver platter and afterwards a robotic butler asks if you need your ass wiped.

1. Become semi isolationists: Meaning, only economic trading should be done and limited Military occupation for extreme circumstances
2. Make the Government more transparent, but not too
3. Separate Private Company ties with the Government.
4. Legalize Marijuana and tax it
5. Make the government more around the local level.
6. Establish the NAU.
7. Get rid of lobbiests.
8. Let the government finance political campaigns with an equally fixed amount for both sides and getting rid of private or corporate donations.
9. Get out of Iraq
10. Cut all ties with Israel (on the surface of course) but carefully monitor the situation in case of escalation.
11. Don't even bother with Georgia because that means involvement with Russia.
12. Influence Israel to attack Iran's Nuclear facilities.
13. Stop any bailouts
14. Continue homeland defense spending and possibly increase it.
15. Set up a Truman Committee to investigate wasteful spending
16. Completely get rid of private military industries and nationalize the war industries, including their private mercenaries.
17. Increase Science and Technological spending
18. Increase educational standards and spending
19. Decrease the cost of higher education by getting rid of the many unnecessary general requirement courses.
20. Stop sending drug addicts to Prison but rather send them to rehab (unless they killed someone or something and they happened to have been under the influence.
21. Universal Healthcare for people who can't afford it, but leave private health care open for people who can afford better health coverage.
22. We need to also "Buy more America" and decrease our imports while increasing our exports (should go hand in hand with technological advancements).
23. Continue the legality of firearms but place very close monitoring systems at the source of production so that we can see where our weapons are going. We also need to place more restrictions on people who buy firearms such as a more in depth background check and psychological check up before buying a firearm.
24. Increase and solidify the system of checks and balances.
25. Slightly increase taxes but get rid of the income tax.
26. The internet should be free or at least less restricted.
27. People must pass a voter test in order to ween out irresponsible voters (such as voting for Obama simply because he is black).

Thats all I can think of right now but I have many more suggestions.

That's all well and good, but how do you envisage making goods cheaper in the US than elsewhere in the world - wage cuts or subsidies?

Exchange rates that aren't rigged might help.
The US dollar being absurdly valuable (and the fact that the Chinese Yuan isn't floating) might make imports cheaper, but it makes exports more expensive for others to buy.

Generally though, the de-industrialization that's occurred in the US and the entire 'fake' economy built on speculative bubbles and pretend wealth has pretty much fucked the country.
The same is true for most western countries as well.

There are other problems of course in western countries -
Australia until recently was benefiting from the greatest mining boom in modern history, yet the trade balance still didn't right itself. I can't believe this never made its way into the papers or SOMETHING, because it's fucking insane.
Higher wages simply meant even further increases in debt fueled consumption of mainly foreign goods.
