Anyone else excited about this movie?
Anyone that doesn't know what this movie is about... its about Biggie Smalls, AKA The Notorious B.I.G. One of the best rappers to ever walk the face of the earth. Better than Dr. Dre... better than Snoop Dogg....
Its about his rise to fame and how he became who he was, how him and Puffy basically changed how the rap game worked.

I've never been much of a Biggie fan, but I've been looking forward to the film for a few years now. I had seen the preview for it a few months back, and it actually seemed a little more quality than I would have imagined. which is always good.

Yeah I'm so excited to see how he went from being a dumbass, fat, cross-eyed rich black kid to being a dumbass, fat, cross-eyed rich black man.
He went to private school and CHOSE to sell crack.
HE IS SO TUFF.
Fucking east coast bullshit.

And yet, the fat, cross-eyed guy was able to get more beautiful pussy than you could ever imagine, live a life of luxury, and be world-famous long after his death. Must not have been so dumb afterall.

yeah, so what of his upper class backgrounds. he chose the rough life and lived and died by it. I havn't heard enough of him to truly understand his legacy, but I'm quite certain it isn't without it's reasons.

There's nothing cool about the shit that he did.
And he fucked a lot of ugly whores. It doesn't take money to do that.
He lived a life where he talked about himself like he was a gift to the planet and never really did ANYTHING worth mentioning.
The guy's a disgrace to humans and personally I think he wrote about dumb, trivial bullshit.

I'd love to be able to get rich by talking about how awesome and rich I am..

You can cry as much you want, but it doesn't change the fact that he's still loved all over the world for his music (even by people who don't generally like rap and hip-hop), and that he lived a life of fame, sex, and luxury. Also, golddiggers, sluts, and whores aren't synonymous with "ugly whores". In case you've been living in a cave since the dawn of man, hot women fuck powerful guys, relatively regardless of their looks.
If you want to say that he did nothing worth mentioning, then you might as well say the same thing about Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, or almost any musician. Regardless of whether you personally like their music, many other people do.
That said, I can't stand gangster rap and the culture associated with it. But, I'm not going to be a retard and deny the reality that he was extremely successful in what he did. If he was able to be so successful and iconic by writing about dumb, trivial bullshit, then that's even more impressive.

So you're impressed and envious of Paris Hilton?

I never said I was "impressed and envious" of Biggie. I just said that he was extremely successful with what he chose to do.

successful? love his music? firstly it was the 90's....rap as a genre of music has peaked and disappeared again.
it sadly gets held in higher esteem meerly because they all shot each other. As for the biopic; he was born, he went to jail, he made shitty over-rated novelty rap music, he was shot.(not exactly movie of the year) biopic's about Mandela, Gandhi i can understand. but 90's rappers.....
And everyone keeps mentioning how successful and rich he was...... don't you think maybe... just maybe he would rather be alive?? success and money is not really that great when your dead.

So stoked for this movie. Don't know how good the plot could be, but it could have some dope scenes.

I'm not the biggest Hip-hop or Rap fan but you have to be a retard to say that BIG had influential music. If you like it makes no difference as to the fact that he is regarded as the one of the best story-tellers of all time.
If you don't agree with the above then think about this. Backstreet Boys, although sucked hardcore, are the greatest boy band to ever live. They will go down in history as one the the greats (of their genre).
I don't care much for Biggie Smalls, I think Tupac was better. But I'll be seeing this because I'm sure there will be plenty of intrigue and drama. Almost a rap biopic suspense, if you will. Plus I'm sure all the cool kids will be seeing it.

His success was undeniable, and the fact that people all over the world LOVE his music is also undeniable. Worth a movie? Who knows; I've never read his biography. Ultimately, the purpose of the movie is just to be entertaining, though perhaps there is some insight into how he became so popular.
That said, I think there are other rappers I'd rather see a movie about. Jay-Z's life sounds pretty interesting based on what I've heard, and since he didn't embrace the gangster rap bullshit and actually offered up some insightful musical poetry (Black Album is one of my favorite albums, and I don't even particularly like the genre), I'd definitely pay to see his life story.

I can't decide if I want to see the movie, I can totally see it sucking hard yet at the same time I'm interest in B.I.G.
As for you so call Rap fans who only heard of big name artists, Dr. Dre is a producer and a bad rapper. Snoop Dogg did his thing in the 90's and Jay-Z is fucking overrated.
I'll treat this just like 8mile.
If I see it on TV, I'll watch it. Otherwise I'm not going out of my way.
