Hey guys.
I already play the guitar, and have done for a few years now. But lately I feel like learning something new, and since I already own a Keyboard, I thought it would be a good choice :)
I take lessons for my guitar, so I won't be able to take lessons for the Piano too. So, I'll have to be self-taught. Could anyone give me any help on teaching myself the Piano; sites, books and whatnot? :)
Also, I know nothing of music theory. Are there any sites or books out there that I could benefit from?
And y'know what, why not give me some sites for the guitar too :D
Thanks a load!

It's just y'know, the cost of lessons. It's a struggle to pay for my guitar lessons every week.

way to contribute vajayjay.
piano lesson's at your level will not be that expensive, 25 dollars for a half hour AT MOST. plus you could take lessons every other week or something like that. point is, it will be extremely difficult for you to learn piano and theory all by yourself.

My guitar lessons cost about £13 for half hour (once a week) right now, and I really wouldn't be able to get lessons.
Surely it can't be that hard with the right resources (which is what I'm asking for :p)? Besides, my guitar teacher seems to know a bit anyways, so I could ask him any quick questions I have.
So, uh... yeah :)

well i guess there is musictheory.net and you could just pick up a book of easy piano tunes. but the fact is its going to be really hard and take a long time for you to learn theory without a teacher.
http://mugglinw.ipower.com/chordmaps/ Has some basic stuff that may be a little bit helpful.
Also,
I know nothing of music theory.
Sounds like you got a bad teacher, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for all the replies :)
I found a couple sites too, so I might as well post 'em:
http://www.zentao.com/guitar/
http://www.davemyers.com/amcc/table.htm
I have a quick question. I was looking at some music (has the tab underneath the notation), and one of the notes was in the first space above the first ledger line above the stave (treble clef (playing guitar) stave), which I think is a 'B'. I learned that the guitar was a transposing instrument, (I think this is right :p) so you play everything an octave lower than what's written...
Anyway, the tab says you play that 'B' at the 19th fret on the high-E string. But if you're supposed to play everything an octave lower, isn't the notation wrong? The tab's definitely right by the way :p I just stumbled upon it the other day, and it confused me.
Oh, and also: if someone refers to 'middle C' on the guitar, are they (generally speaking) referring to the first fret of the B-string, or the third fret of the A-string? If it's the former, would middle C be written (for guitar) in the third space of the stave, instead of on the ledger line beneath?
Sorry if none of that's clear, my head's juggling loads of stuff around :D
Thankyars.

Anyone? :(
And, does anyone have any recommendations for books? :p
