So my car is almost completely fixed. Only one more thing to go.

When my car is in neutral, sometimes it will rev wildly on its own. Sometimes its a steady rhythm and sometimes it will go up to 3k rpm and just hold it.

Could this be my fuel pump? Dirty injectors?

Check the idle air control system, make sure it's not shorted or something.

I think I know what the problem is (http://www.belfastcity.gov.uk/news/photoquality/MovieStarHerbieToGuestAtMotorShow.jpg), but otherwise you could always check your Idle Control Valve for faults, like Rocko already suggested. Post the results here and we'll work through it.

How old is the car?
The phenomenon is known as "hunting" I believe, and if it's carbed with no computer then you'll need to have a play with the settings on the carb.

Hmm, sounds like mine but sometimes it'll drop below 800 and just die...(auto, 22 years old)

But it's only when i go around corners.....maybe the cable isnt insulated, so when it[the motor] heats up it expands the cable causing it to rev like it does?

Its a 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse spyder gs. 2.4l. is the 4g64

Where is the idle control valve? What kind of faults will I be looking for?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm learning as I go. I'll go check my haynes manual in the meantime.

The idle air control valve/motor (if it's the same basic setup as GM fuel injection) will be on the side of the throttle body. Basically, it opens a little passage around the butterfly valve so the engine can idle when the throttle isn't being pushed. Depending on variables gathered by the vehicle's sensors, the computer can increase or decrease the size of that hole. If it's getting too much or not enough power, the idle speed will be off. Also if there is something wrong with the motor itself.

On dodge trucks and some other chrysler vehicles, when the battery is weak it will cause a stall issue. It is because when you drop the engine to idle, for a moment it relies on battery power to supply the pcm with voltage. If the battery is weak (not holding a charge as well as it should) the pcm doesnt get enough voltage and ends up closing the iac altogether.
