View Full Version : Anyone else enjoy (with a S/O) the ability to...
be silent together and have it not be awkward? I think it's amazing- how do you guys feel about it? Think it's just an excuse cuz there's nothing to talk about or is it significant?
my opinon is that it's not an excuse really, and that it is awesome to be able to be with someone and not HAVE to speak for the sake of breaking the awkwardness.
I think it's a significant landmark in a relationship, but that's just me.
Totse, what do you think?
If you think that's amazing, just wait 'til you try sex!

if youve seen pulp fiction you know the quote
"That's when you know you've found somebody special. When you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably enjoy the silence"
it just means youve found good company. it could mean your relationships going good, or that your SO is just a chill person who doesnt mind a silence, either way's cool when you look at it.

Well that quote came to mind as I was thinking in my normal insomniac dreams (aka staring at the wall/ceiling) about my relationship and I realized something- I've always had to speak to people constantly due to the fact that I'm not as comfortable with them as I am with my wife. I guess it's something about knowing someone inside and out that helps :)

It's weird you're making this kind of thread, then.
Your OP makes you sound like a 15 year old boy who has just had a philosophical breakthrough and realized that he's comfortable around his girlfriend that he's had for two weeks.
No offense.

Oh no dude- I'm just stating something that I was thinking about while unable to sleep and it dawned on me as fairly significant, as I was always a very sociable/talkative person because I felt that I needed to be, yet I realized that I just needed the right partner and then I could just enjoy the sweet solitude of silence from time to time WHILE enjoying the company of said partner.
Good for you then.

Indeed.
Now not to get off topic, but I am curious. What's your conclusion on your sexual orientation? I hadn't had a chance to read the conclusion (if there was one)
AFTER ANSWER, BACK ON TOPIC PLEASE. I'd like to know what the rest of &t thinks.
I'm gay.
Well lovely, I hope that works out well for you, sir.
Nice shoes. ;)
I'm straight, taken, and too old!
anyways, back on topic!

You are probably right in that it's a significant landmark, although I think it depends on a few other factors too, such as your personality, her personality.
Some people are naturally reticent, as such they easily don't talk much. As for silence not being "awkward", well, I am guessing that for these taciturn people silence was never awkward for them in the first place because they are so accustomed to it.

True. Well I guess it is based upon the individuals, but we are both quite sociable and talk quite alot, but it's those moments when I (personally) feel really in love.

Sure. You think it's deep, but she's just as shallow as a puddle. Sounds like a total win.

I give her the look that says 'im reading / watching emerdale' and she realises she is rabitting on about a load of shit. I have just been talked too for 20 minutes on worcester sauce pretzels. Marraige does have its upsides tho.
