If I borrow a car and get into an accident, what are my options? I have all the car's papers and my license is valid but I'm not in the insurance policy.

Same scenario, but what if a cop pulls me over for speeding or something minor, can I get in trouble? What would I need to do to prove that I didn't just steal the car?

This is in Texas by the way, thanks for any help.

They would run the plates/registration to see if the car was reported stolen.

As for insurance, I'm curious about this myself, but I think insurance would still cover you. The "Primary Driver" who has the insurance is assumed to drive the vehicle the most. I think if you really did just borrow the car for a quick drive it would still cover you although the premium would go up...

I'm not too sure though. If someone finds the exact answer try to find the laws for Florida as well.
