Is there any way to find a fucking list of the available or potential ratings for reserves? I don't want to go talk to another asshole recruiter. I want to see the fucking list they should publish it SOMEWHERE online....

Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserves jobs are all the same.

FYI: If your straight out of high school without a good job, the Navy Reserve is one of the biggest scams ran by the government. While all employers are legally suppose to hold your job most mininum wage jobs dont. So ensure wherever you work at will keep your job when you get deployed.

Yes, the Navy Reserve is Second Class Ticket straight to Iraq / Afghanistan. Don't be surprised when you're called up.

Sources: Numerous Reservist Chiefs, Petty Officers and Seamen.

Wouldn't the class of that ticket depend on your rating? I was assigned CTT rating when I first enlisted I can't imagine the demand for them in Iraq to be very high but I was thinking of going CTI which I've no doubt is a first class ticket to Iraq and Arabic even though I'd prefer to learn Chinese since I already study Japanese and have a grasp on the Chinese writing system.

How the hell do you train Reservists for these ratings if they don't go to "A" school after Basic? and is that 2 year decrement on a three+ year contract bullshit. Sounds like bullshit.

Man if you learn Arabic, shit by all means go the Reserve route. Then start applying at places like Booze Allen Hamilton and Boeing, places that deal with the Arabs and sell them arms via the US Government.

Anyway, the reservists I met went straight to "A" School right after boot. And in the Navy, you ain't officially rated until you become an E-4. So until you even earn the right to call yourself an MCSR, BMSR etc. you gotta go through the schools, otherwise you're just an undesignated SR.

And in case some company does threaten to get rid of you or does it because of the Reserves or National Guard...
