Is it possible to buy guns and have them sent to safe storage like bank boxes by someone who isn't in the country and what are the rules on using them if u came to the US on holiday and wanted to try them out at a range or sell them at a later date?

No.

Usually, you need a driver's license (US) to rent firearms.

To buy, you need to be a resident for 90 days, and if a non-resident alien on a temporary visa, may be able to own/possess a firearm only if you are eligible for and attain a state hunting permit as well.

Random_Looney how in the fuck can you even answer his question? Can you really read what the fuck he just typed? Dear God, OP, please never fucking procreate or adopt children of any kind. Are you a fucking sixth grader? Jesus fucking Christ I am infuriated by your illiteracy.

It is a ridiculous question, but since we have members such as LavaRed who wanted to know the legality of renting firearms in the US legally as a non-citizen, I thought I'd throw the answer out there.

This guy is definitely asking suspicious questions, though. I wouldn't be surprised to find he went through all the trouble to get into the US, spent a ton of money working out a way to rent a firearm, and then got shot trying to sneak it out of a range. The price one pays for playing Jason Bourne without really getting paid to do that kind of thing.

my main point was getting a 3rd party to purchase and store a fiream on behalf of someone outside the US

That's called a straw purchase, and that's especially illegal.

No. It's the purchase of a firearm for any individual prohibited from owning them, such as those who are deemed mentally unqualified, those underage (not relatives, typically), or non-resident aliens without a permanent VISA or hunting license.

Yes, but it is still a third party purchase, which is a felony, I believe, anyway you look at it.

We don't even need to get to the part of whether you are a legal US resident or not.

Now, the reason it works in the movies is because the individual has a very powerful organization who is effectively above the law, behind him, who provides the weapons.
But you, as an individual, and the person who help you, run a great risk of getting fucked over doing this.
Besides, to the best of my knowledge, security boxes and such get checked every 24 hours for exactly this kind of stuff, more so in these days of terrorism.

What about Hi-cap magazines?

As a Canadian I'm restricted to 5rd mags for any center fire rifles so I'd really like and would pay dearly for, a dozen or so M1A/M14, AK, FAL Mags.

I make periodic trips to Washington (FT Lewis or Yakima) area for training exercises anyways. Do to the nature of the trips I don't run much of a risk of getting searched crossing the border or anything. My only problem is acquiring.

Possible to a non-resident?

There is no restriction as to whom they sell firearms accesories, as far as I know. Heck I've bought most of my magazines and stuff at gun shows in the US. But there is no restriction bringing those into my country, its just they're cheaper in the US.

But don't do anything illegal. Its not worth it. Seriously. You'll sleep better at night if you don't.

I know I know, but 5 goddamn rds! that's 30 magazines to hold 150 rds. Compared to 5 mags at 30rds.

29 mag changes to put just 150 shots down range.

But your right, It's not worth it. I suppose 5 is better than 20-30 if it keeps me out of jail.

Buy all the high capacity baby killing magazines you want while you're in the USA. Dismantle them and you're home free. It's not illegal to own sheet metal and a spring.

They also make special AR magazines that are somehow considered handgun magazines under Canadian law, with a whoppin' 10 round capacity.

HIFH used to buy those...

Thank you, Bill Ruger, I was under the impression that you died of cancer...

No honest man needs a big house, or a fast car, or anything nice for that matter, but since This Is America God Dammit, he gets them anyway, just for the hell of it.

Sounds like you would need to do a personal transfer first to get it legally in your name and then it would have to be a legal firearm in the country it was going to be residing it.
